Drone Making and Flying Summer Camp

The Drone Making and Flying Summer Camp, held from June 3 to 7, 2024, provided an enriching experience for students from classes VI-IX and IT faculty members from Blue Bells Group of Schools. Conducted by Mr. Shubham Gupta from Vigyantram under the inspirational mentorship of Madam Anshuka Aneja, Deputy Director (IT), BBGS, the camp offered innovative, experiential learning. The workshop aimed to inspire innovation in technology, enhance STEM education, and provide hands-on experience in engineering and robotics. Over the five days, participants delved into the history, components, and assembly of quadcopters, gaining practical experience in designing, assembling, and testing drones.

The attendees included IT faculty and students who engaged in both theoretical and practical sessions, exploring various applications of drones in fields such as agriculture, environmental science, and security. The camp was structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of drone technology, starting from basic hardware components and progressing to advanced concepts like electronic speed controllers, motor testing, and flight controller calibration. The practical sessions allowed participants to apply their learning by designing and assembling X-type quadcopters, testing ESCs and motors, and performing flight tests. The workshop concluded with a successful drone flying session, where participants demonstrated their newly acquired skills. Certificates of participation were awarded, marking the end of a fruitful learning experience that significantly enhanced the attendees' skills in STEM and robotics.

World Environment Day 2024

Blue Bells model School along with Energy Swaraj Foundation celebrated World Environment Day with an aim to highlight the urgent need for environmental protection and encourage global action for sustainable development. The Solar Man of India, Mr Chetan Singh Solanki, Founder of Energy Swaraj Foundation took the vibrant session and emphasized the critical role of solar energy in combating climate change and the importance of energy literacy for sustainable development. He inspired students to adopt renewable energy practices and actively participate in climate corrective actions. The school reverberated with a lot of energy as students from various reputed institutions gathered to write letters to the Hon. Prime Minister of India. The initiative aimed to engage students in #ActionForClimateCorrection by expressing gratitude for the Prime Minister's leadership, urging further action on climate change, and promoting energy literacy.

Ms Alka Singh, Principal added that the wonderful initiative highlighted the importance of improving water, air, and soil quality, and reducing global warming. The children through these letters emphasized the need for the Prime Minister to lead by example through an environmentally friendly lifestyle and sustainable practices.

Furthermore, the letters encouraged the promotion of energy literacy, referencing the free course developed by the Energy Swaraj Foundation. This initiative would equip citizens with the knowledge needed to participate in climate corrective actions, ultimately ensuring a livable planet for future generations. The event was a meaningful step towards raising environmental awareness and inspiring collective action among young minds.

Every year, 31st May is observed as World No Tobacco Day. This year’s theme being – ‘Protecting children from tobacco industry interference.’ The annual event marks an opportunity to raise awareness on the harmful and deadly effects of tobacco use.

The Health &Wellness Programme under ADEPT-A Program for Enhancing Life Skills, Powered by wellnesswise.in, has been working incessantly in cultivating the right knowledge and provide each one a platform to feel empowered to advocate on various social issues.

Under the mentorship of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS, Blue Bells Model School celebrated ‘World No Tobacco Day’ as a weeklong event from May 20, 2024 to May 28,2024. The objective was to shield the youth with the information about harmful tobacco products and deceptive advertising practices. Students of grade IX to XII participated in a plethora of activities by designing thought-provoking Posters, Collages, Placards with Slogans articulating their thoughts and feelings. To further foster a sense of responsibility among the masses, on May 27,2024, the students participated in an awareness drive raising slogans on the ill effects of tobacco use and the risks involved with children working in the tobacco industries.

STAGE-O-RAMA: A Celebration of Theatre and History

Blue Bells Model School hosted the Stage-O-Rama Theatre Festival, themed "Women Empowerment and Unearthing the Mysteries" on 27^th and 28^th May 2024. Conceptualized by Ms. Soumya Gulati, Deputy Director of Academic Development and Innovation, the event began with ceremonial lamp lighting, traditional verses, and the school anthem "Blue Bells ki Shaan."

Principal Ms. Alka Singh welcomed guests, highlighting theatre's role in fostering self-reflection, collaboration, and social awareness. The curtain-raiser featured a captivating performance by Srishti Sanjay, Lochan, Ram Sharma and team. Enthusiastic participants showcased their talents through Hindi plays like Ahilya Bai Holkar, Razia Sultan, Savitri Bai Phule Dr Rukma Bai and English plays like Monkey’s Paw, Canterville Ghost, Mousetrap and Hounds of Baskerville.

The jury included Mr. Mahesh Vashisth, Renowned Theatre Artist, Mr. Varun, Founder Humans Without Walls, Mr Anil Sanduja and Ms Neelam Ahuja, Mentors and Former Faculty, BBMS. Tagore House won Best English and Hindi Play. Guneet and Srishti Sanjay were Best Actor and Actress in English Play, while Tamanpreet Virk and Gursimar Singh received the honours for Hindi Play. Srishti Sanjay and Mili Kushwaha won Best Directors for English and Hindi Plays.

Ms. Saroj Suman Gulati emphasized theatre's role in exploring diverse strategies and their effectiveness. The two-day event was a thrilling and enriching experience for all involved.

Enriching Historical Insights: A Workshop at the National Museum

History students from Grades XI and XII of Blue Bells Model School attended a three-day workshop at the National Museum from 18-21 May, 2024. The workshop focused on the Brahmi script and the deciphering of Ashokan inscriptions. Students were introduced to the historical significance and basics of Brahmi script, followed by hands-on sessions to practice writing in the ancient script. The highlight was learning techniques used by historians to decode Ashokan inscriptions, providing students with a rare and practical experience in epigraphy.

The workshop sparked significant interest and enthusiasm among the students, offering a deep dive into ancient scripts and historical context. Engaging with the material firsthand, they gained valuable insights and skills that go beyond the typical classroom experience. This enriching opportunity not only enhanced their historical knowledge but also fostered a profound appreciation for the evolution of written communication.

PEARL ACADEMY WORKSHOP

Enriching Workshop on Block Printing by Pearl Academy

BBMS students specializing in Fashion Studies had the unique opportunity to participate in an enriching workshop conducted by the faculty of Pearl Academy, Delhi. Led by Assistant Professor Kamlesh, the workshop provided hands-on experience in block printing. Students creatively transformed their designs into beautiful products, including T-shirts, bags, table mats, and covers. This practical exposure not only enhanced their skills but also gave them a deeper appreciation for traditional printing techniques. The workshop was a valuable addition to their learning experience, showcasing the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and modern fashion design.

Futurix- The Design Thinking and Innovation Fair, Edition 5.0’

"Design is the visible manifestation of intelligence, transforming abstract thought into concrete reality."

The fifth edition of 'FUTURIX - The Design Fair,' propelled by Blue Bells Model School, offered students a chance to redefine their design thinking, management, and teamwork abilities. This distinctive event was available to students from grades III to XII, inviting them to create innovative concepts, products, prototypes, or digital solutions that could positively influence society.

The tech-savvy and highly empowered Blue Bellians of the school unequivocally encompassed the design challenge, producing brilliant and innovative ideas that offer solutions to various day-to-day life problems. The mega event, held on May 18, 2024, witnessed young innovators showcasing their product designs, working models, prototype layouts, and demonstrating how these products could benefit humanity.

The Design Fair was inaugurated by the distinguished guests, Dr. Elangovan Kariappan, Assistant Innovation Director, Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and Mr Satish Pahal, Deputy Secretary Ministry of Skill education. They released the Design Fair Newsletter which comprised the details of each project and exhibited the images of the students working diligently with their project models. Dr. Elangovan shared his expertise with the teachers wherein he spoke on innovation and skillsets and how it can be enhanced in students.

The school firmly believes that commitment, fortitude, creativity, and reasoning skills are essential for students to unlock their potential and become future-ready. The pioneering ideas and effective presentations and illustrations of thoughtful projects were creditable accomplishments for the aspiring impresarios. The outstanding display of projects and models that enchanted the attention of the guests were Portable Eco-Friendly Fridge, Vertigrow Oasis, Beat the Heat, Wild Fire Detector, Bio Blend, Static Streets, Aiding Librarians, Fresh View Vision, The Pollution Warrior and many more. The impressive models were tagged with Sovereign Nugget for golden ideas where the value created was skill-oriented and marketable, Silver Star for projects with silver linings easier to implement with significant benefits, Chrome Card for promising e-ideas and e-solutions and Special Mention for students’ team ship, ardour and efforts.

The parent visitors were captivated by the distinctive creations of each project. They expressed deep admiration for the students' earnest efforts and the teachers' dedicated guidance in leading the teams. Approximately 1,205 participants showcased 330 projects, attracting around 600 visitors, including students from various Government schools across Gurugram. Ms. Alka Singh, Principal of the school, praised the innovators as she observed them confidently presenting their unique design projects. Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, Director of BBGS was impressed to witness the zealous participation of the young creators. The Director conveyed her delight by stating, "Each child in the school possesses a distinctive vision, and in the Design Fair, the students have given concrete shape to their innovative ideas."

‘LET'S EXPLORE PUBERTY’: A SESSION FOR CLASS VII BOYS

Puberty represents a significant phase of transformation for both boys and girls, involving physical, cognitive, emotional, and social changes. Recognizing the importance of addressing children's doubts and queries during this period, a captivating session was arranged on May 07, 2024, specifically tailored for Class VII boys. This initiative was developed and conducted under the guidance and inspirational leadership of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), Blue Bells Group of Schools. The session was led by Dr. Sanjay Bhatt, the school Doctor, Ms. Prerna Karkhanis and Mr. Harsh Vashisht, Life Skills Facilitators.

The session aimed to educate the boys about the forthcoming physical, emotional, hormonal, and social transformations during puberty. School Cinema movie 'Let's Talk Puberty' was screened to lay foundation of the topic. They gained a holistic understanding of changes and learned strategies for managing them effectively through adequate sleep, nutrition, and personal hygiene. Concepts such as mood swings and fluctuations in energy levels were also explained comprehensively.

Moreover, the session emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced diet, staying hydrated, getting enough rest, engaging in outdoor activities, and practicing good hygiene for overall health and well-being. The students received valuable insights into self-care practices that would help them navigate this phase successfully. They were encouraged to openly discuss their concerns, doubts, and feelings with the facilitator without hesitation.

Dr. Bhatt concluded the session by stressing the importance of healthy eating habits and regular physical activity. He urged the students to seek additional support and guidance by initiating conversations with their parents, doctors, teachers, counselors, and the Wing In-charge regarding this crucial stage of their development.
