INTRODUCTORY SESSION FOR ASTRONOMY CLUB

Astronomy club was introduced to the students of classes 4 – 8 through an interactive session organized by Zlife Education. They were told that Astronomy is a natural science that deals with the study of celestial objects (such as stars, planets, comets, nebulae, star clusters and galaxies) and phenomena that originates outside the atmosphere of the Earth like Solar Eclipse and Lunar Eclipse. Astronomy is concerned with all the sciences e.g. physics, chemistry, meteorology and motion of celestial objects, as well as the formation and development of the universe. Zlife Education runs astronomy clubs in Schools to teach observational astronomy to students. The students saw a video on the influences of astronomy. They also witnessed the role of liquid nitrogen in creating heavenly aura. The students were highly impressed and motivated with the session.

MRACH 27 TO APRIL 8, 2017

Our students of classes VI – X were taken on an excursion to Jodhpur from March 27 to April 8 in various slots. Jodhpur is known as the "Sun City" for the bright and sunny weather it enjoys all the year round. The old city circles the fort and is bounded by a wall with several gates. Jodhpur is also known as the "Blue City" because of the blue colours that decorate many of the houses in the old city area. This blue colour helps the houses by providing a cool ambience. Jodhpur was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, a Rajput chief of the Rathore clan.

On the first day after breakfast, the students were taken to Umaid Bhawan Palace. It is one of the world's largest private residences. Named after Maharaja Umaid Singh, grandfather of the present owner Gaj Singh of the palace, this edifice has 347 rooms and serves as the principal residence of the erstwhile Jodhpur royal family. The Palace is divided into three functional parts – the residence of the royal family, a luxury Taj Palace Hotel, and a Museum focusing on the 20th century history of the Jodhpur Royal Family. The museum has exhibits of stuffed leopards, a very large symbolic flag gifted to Maharaja Jaswant Singh by Queen Victoria in 1877, an impressive "quirky" collection of clocks in windmill and light house shapes, and photographs of the elegant art-deco interior of the palace. The classic cars of the Maharajas are also on display in the garden in front of the museum. Glass, porcelain wares, memorabilia, and information on the building of the palace are also part of the exhibits. The Darbar Hall, which is part of the museum, has elegant murals and also substantial number of miniature paintings, armour and an unusual collection of household paraphernalia that was in vogue in the 1930s, which were costly and then not found in India.After relaxing in the open space the students boarded the bus and returned to the hotel for lunch.

After lunch, the students went into their rooms for an afternoon siesta. At around 4:00 pm they left the hotel and headed towards Osian Desert Camp. Rajasthan boasts its undulating landscape which is dominated by the golden sand dunes. Basking in the alluring sun set views which make Rajasthan shine in the evening; the students relished the glittering ambiance while riding on camels through the desert. The jeep safari provided an enthralling drive to the crest of the highest dune.The signature activity of the camp was the Camel Safari where the ship of the desert took the students on a journey into time through the land of golden dunes. After the Jeep and Camel Safari the students relaxed by the bonfire to the soothing strains of folk songs rendered by the local artists and mesmerized by the graceful whirls of Kalbeliya dancer the students proceeded for dinner.

The next morning after breakfast the students were escorted to Mehrangarh Fort which is one of the largest forts in India. The museum in the Mehrangarh fort is one of the well-stocked museums in Rajasthan. The museum exhibits the heritage of the Rathores in arms, costumes, paintings and decorated period rooms.

After exploring Mehrangarh Fort the students headed to JaswantThada which was built by Maharaja Sardar Singh of Jodhpur State in 1899 in memory of his father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, and serves as the cremation ground for the royal family of Marwar. The mausoleum is built out of intricately carved sheets of marble. These sheets are extremely thin and polished so that they emit a warm glow when illuminated by the sun.

The students then returned to the hotel for lunch and afternoon siesta. Evening time was the shopping time for all wherein all had a gala time purchasing souvenirs for their family members. Finally came the time to bid adieu to the scenic beauty of Jodhpur and board the train to Gurgaon. It was an exhilarating experience for the students as well as teachers because the knowledge earned would stay imprinted on the hearts and souls forever.  

World Health Day

 The students of Primary Wing, Blue Bells Model School, celebrated world Health Day with great excitement and enthusiasm. A plethora of meaningful and interesting activities were planned for the students.

Class III students made a collage of healthy food items. Class IV students brought a variety of seasonal fruits to make tasty and nutritious fruit salad. ‘Cooking without fire’, an activity for Class V students got them engaged in making of sandwiches and bhelpuri.

Students enjoyed these activities and learnt the importance of having healthy food in our daily diet. They also got to know about various nutrients present in the food items that would keep our body fit and healthy.

Respected Principal madam Chandan Dhawan encouraged the students towards eating of healthy food and following a healthy lifestyle.

The students of class III were introduced to the English and Maths Lab. The introductory session to these labs were held for these students.

The students had hands on experience on Britannica Software in English Lab for enhancement of speaking and listening skills. They were acquinted with the procedure to be followed while doing the exercises. They listened to the sound clipping and solved the exercises based on it. It was a fun based learning. The students were very excited to wear their head phones and perform their activities in the English Lab.

Students performed an activity based on addition in the Maths Lab. This activity was on addition of 4 digit numbers. The two numbers were represented by dots of different colours. They were placed in their respective places i.e ones, tens, hundreds and thousands. The answer by addition was then written in form of number name. Such activities are conducted to create interest of mathematics among the students and to develop their analytical skills.

THE TRANSITION SESSION

THE HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAMME

The Transition session organized by the Health & Wellness Team on the 5^th of April, 2017, for the students who just moved from class 5 to 6 went remarkably well. Primary Wing Incharge, Ma’am Meenakshi Malhotra, apprised the students of what middle school will be like. She wished all of them very well and alleviated all the fears that the students would harness while entering higher class.

Middle Wing Incharge, Ma’am Anshu Mallika Kumar, welcomed the new batch of students and told them  to accept the challenges whole heartedly that come their way.

An overview of the  examination pattern was discussed with the students by Ms.                  Sharmistha . Some pointers as to how better grades can be achieved was also told to the students.

After a brief introductory note on the new subjects and the examination system, Mrs. Sapna Sinha, an avid part of the Health & Wellness team and a Life Skills facilitator introduced the students to the Health & Wellness programme, the work that it does, the Life Skills Education classes, as well as the different ways in which the students can also join or be a part of the programme. Post this, Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), Blue Bells Group of Schools, took over the session and engaged the students in a discussion about the feelings they had about entering a new class. All the students, bright eyed and a curious combination of both nervous and excited asked a number of questions and were very keen to share their feelings, concerns, doubts, and fears. These were all addressed one by one by Dr. Alka, who assured them that while transition is an essential part of life and growing up, there will always be someone to help them whenever they need it. In order to familiarize the students with the Health & Wellness facilitators or counselors they can always approach, the team introduced themselves one by one. It was indeed a very fruitful session and the students seemed to have left with a substantial amount of worry and burden off their chests.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME…. A NEW BEGINNING

Orientation programmes are held to apprise the parents and welcome new students to the school. It is a new beginning of the academic year and as is the tradition, BLUE BELLS MODEL SCHOOL, invited parents for an enlightening session to meet their aspirations and hopes and get acquainted with the activities carried out in the school. The programme began on an auspicious note by evoking the blessings of the divine with the ceremonial lighting of lamp.

Respected Principal, Ma’am Chandan Dhawan, welcomed the parents and  introduced our school management, who have been our guiding force throughout.

Primary Wing Incharge, Ms Meenakshi Malhotra, apprised the parents about the achievements of the students. The parents were introduced to the teaching team of the Primary Wing. They were also assured of the unstinted support that would be extended to them by the teaching team during the session.

Middle Wing in-charge Ms Anshu Malika Kumar categorically apprised parents about the remodeled structure of assessment mode formulated by CBSE for classes VI-X. Ms Kiran Rawat further  elaborately updated the parents regarding the evaluation policy Each and every subject was taken up separately for a better insight in the teaching methodology.

A skit by thePrimary Wing students showcased Integrated learning wherein all the subjects were woven into one theme ‘Make in India’. The enactment by the students was commendable. The parents applauded and were proud to witness their wards perform. Through a skit presentation by the Middle and High School, based on ‘Demonetization’ parents were given a clear picture as to how activities hone students’ creativity, thinking skills, logical skills, technological skills, writing skills and speaking skills.

Our Revered Director Ma’am, Dr. Suman Gulati, Blue Bells Group of Schools, inspired and encouraged the parents to be a mentor to their wards and provide guidance to them in any activity they wish to undertake. She appreciated the students for their efforts to make this program a great success.

WELCOMING STUDENTS OF CLASS III

The Academic Session 2017-18 for class III instigated on March 30, 2017. The parents were excited about the new beginning of their wards in the new building. The students were anxious to know about their new teachers and classmates. A Havan was conducted to give an auspicious start to the day. All the students entered their respective classes after evoking the blessings of the divine. The class teachers introduced themselves to the students. There was an introductory session for the students where in they shared their feelings with the new class teachers. Students had many queries regarding forthcoming activities. They were overwhelmed by the new start of the session in the new building which filled their hearts with joy. Teachers observed the students sharing their experiences of their first day of the session. Every student had a smile on their faces before leaving for the day.

UNWRAPPING LEARNING PACKAGES’

BLUE BELLS MODEL SCHOOL ORGANIZES INTEGRATED CARNIVAL’UNWRAPPING LEARNING PACKAGES’

Integrated learning incorporates multiple subjects in an interdisciplinary method of teaching. It keeps the students engaged in meaningful activities and they can learn multiple sets of skills, experiences and sources to aid and accelerate the learning process.. To bring about overall development among the students and empower the students by giving them opportunities and experiences with many different ways of Learning, a carnival ‘Unwrapping Learning Packages’ was organized by the Primary Wing of Blue Bells Model School, Sector 4 Gurgaon which was indeed a huge canvas for the students of Primary Wing to pour the vivid colors of their creative flow. The event was inaugurated by director BBGS Dr. Suman Gulati. She was enthusiastic about the concept that had been taught and was very well executed through hands on experiments, games, art and craft and other cultural events comprising of Book Parade, Nakkad Natak, live singing and dances by the students.

The carnival was conceptualized by the Learning and Development center ‘The Learning Space’ under the able guidance of Ma’am Soumya Gulati, Assistant Director Academic Development and Innovations. This was exquisitely showcased by the teachers and students of the primary wing. It was an overwhelming experience to see the enthusiasm and appreciation in the parents on seeing the progression of learning in the primary classes.

The soulful corner of Health and Wellness Programme- 'Elixir: Find Your Essence’, was a journey inwards for the visitors. The corner was conceived and designed by the Health & Wellness team under the guidance of Dr. Alka Saxena, Asst. Director, Health & Wellness, Blue Bells Group of Schools. The theme centering around creating a harmonious life was concretized through thoughtful displays and activities.

The 'Island of Emotions' depicting expressions through various water animals, was an absolute solace. The visitors were also given critical thinking sheets on self awareness and healthy life style. They were also given badges related to safety rules as a token of remembrance.

'Elixir' remained abuzz with curious visitors keen to know more about the very fabric of our inner world; the skills needed for life.

The ICT corner was another attraction of the carnival where the parents had hands on live robots, scratch, tux paints and movie making under the able guidance of Ma’am Anshuka Aneja -Assistant Director I T, BBGS.

A few items like cakes, jewellery and bags were on sale and the money collected will be donated to ‘Project Muskaan’ a school adopted by Blue Bell Model School in the Pilot Run of project Muskaan.

The concept, execution and the efforts behind the show was highly lauded by all, proving

once again that Blue Bells offers education that inspires confidence.

EDUCATIONAL TRIP REPORT

Educational trips for classes III – V were organized to Mughal Garden, Aero Planet and Red Fort on Saturday, February 18, 2017.

Class III students enjoyed the tour to the exotic gardens. The spectacular flower show held them spellbound with varieties of flowers like the roses, tulips and many more. The sprawling gardens with geometrical shapes rendered all speechless with their beauty. The students then went to India Gate and had their lunch and enjoyed being with their friends.

A classic experience of air travel was a welcoming trip for the Class IV students at Aero Planet which was indeed enjoyable. A magic show and few games were planned for the students. They were also explained the safety rules of takeoff and landing of an airplane. It was an informative session.

The main capital of the Mughal Dynasty, the Red Fort was as much an awe inspiring experience for class V students as they learnt all about its historical significance.

Students were served refreshments. It was a very joyful and a great learning experience for all.
