CHILD SAFETY IS OUR PRIME CONCERN: WORKSHOP ON CHILD PROTECTION POLICY & POCSO ACT  AT BLUE BELLS MODEL SCHOOL, SECTOR 4, GURGAON

When ensuring safety within schools a holistic approach is imperative to create an environment which looks at the multiple dimensions of vulnerability faced by the child, be it mental, emotional, cognitive, social, cultural, geographical or physical, keeping in mind the child's entire cycle of engagement with the educational environment and the system.

A safe school environment makes children's rights a reality, restores hope, eliminates bias, upholds dignity in the child's life and creates an enabling environment that supports a child's positive personality development. In sync with the same objective a Workshop was  organized for the teachers by The Resource Centre of The Health & Wellness Programme under the   inspiring  guidance of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy  Director  (Health  and Wellness), BBGS, on May 10, 2017 . The teachers were sensitized and made aware of the POCSO Act & Child Protection Policy devised for BBGS .

Children are innocent and trusting by nature and thus, they need to be protected against any  abuse . Therefore, the teachers play a pivotal role to protect them in the school if they do not become a prey to such acts. Ma’am elaborately explained about the  POCSO Act, adopted by India to safeguard children from sexual offense.  This is an Act to protect children from offences of sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornography and provide for establishment of Special Courts for trial of such offences and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Dr.Alka Saxena, gave a brief to everyone on Child Protection Policy statements to provide a clear picture to the teachers for ensuring students’ safety in the school. This policy is applicable to all employees and any person who comes in contact with the school system. Ma’am gave a detailed description on the vision and mission of the school as far as students’ safety  is concerned. She  also apprised the staff about the safety measures taken for transport and even when students move out for picnic or any outdoor activities and other areas. Ma’am also briefed on Online safety so that teachers could guide the students properly for internet security. She  also  outlined the parameters to be followed as  internet safety protocol and also updated everyone on  the roles and responsibilities of ‘Child Abuse Monitoring Committee’ and ‘Core Committee Members’ to make children feel safe and secured in the school premises. The whole objective of session was   to sensitize teachers so that  children can be protected from abuse and their safety can be ensured by providing  a safe learning environment. 

Rabindra Jayanti  Celebration

The students of class VII C presented a wonderful assembly to commemorate Rabindra Jayanti and Mother’s Day. The assembly began with a skit on “Mother’s Presence” wherein the students showcased the importance of mother in a family. It was followed by a speech on Rabindranath Tagore. The group song ‘Amra Shobai Raja’ mesmerized the audience and filled the hall with a festive fervor. A group dance on ‘Amra Nutan Jauboneri doot’ Rabindra Sangeet was also performed. The dancers attired in traditional sarees and kurta pyjamas enthralled the audience with their performance. Students also presented a dance showcasing their gratitude to their mothers. The Class Incharge Ms Mahuya Menon educated the students about Rabindranath Tagore. She pitched in the poetic expressions originally composed by the Great Poet – Rabindranath Tagore. The assembly came to an end with the motivational words by the Middle wing Incharge - Ms. Anshu Mallika Kumar who infused the spirit of love and devotion amongst the students for their mothers.

ISA activity of EVS ‘Gourmet’s Delight across the Globe’

  ISA activity of EVS ‘Gourmet’s Delight across the Globe’ was conducted for the students of classes IV-V. The main aim of the project to study the diversity in cuisines around the globe and connect globally through food. Power Point Presentations were prepared by the students and discovered the similarities and different food of different countries. Venn diagrams were also made by students comparing the similarities and differences between the Indian Cuisines and the Cuisines of the other countries like China, Australia, Mexico and Italy. The young kitchen chefs brought pre cooked food, cut vegetables and fruits and created breakfast platter corresponding to the country allotted to them and exhibited their culinary skills. It was a fun based learning experience. Respected principal Mad ‘am  appreciated the hard work and dedications of the students in making this project a success.

MOTHERS DAY

 “To the world you are a Mother but to your family you are the world.”

The purest and truest meaning of the term unconditional can only be found in a mother’s love.A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world.  It knows no law, no pity--it dares all things and crushes down unrelentingly all that stands in its path. Of all the gifts that life has to offer, a loving mother is the supreme of them all. The bond between the mother and her child is one defined by love and purity

To express their affection and to honour mothers, students of classes III-V prepared beautiful cards and decorated them with glitters. They also prepared jewellery. These small thoughtful gestures proved that their existence is for her, by her and with her.

An assembly was conducted by class IV A to celebrate this special day. Students sang a song and danced in praise of mothers. On account of Rabindra Tagore’s birth anniversary poetry recitation was also conducted in his honour and remembrance. Honourable Principal Mad ‘am addressed the students and told them that it is very important that we respect our mother and listen to her what says.

LABOUR DAY & WORLD BOOK DAY

The students of Classes VIII B & C conducted the assembly on ‘Respecting Labour’ and ‘Valuing Books’ to commemorate the Labour Day which was on May 1 and World Book Day that was celebrated all over the world on April 23, 2017. The assembly began with an inspirational group song ‘Kitabon ki duniya’ to tell the audience that books are dreams in the hands of readers. Thereafter a talk show was held showcasing the importance of labour. A skit was also performed that brought the various characters from the renowned books alive like Willy Wonka from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; Alice from Alice in the Wonderland; Nancy Drew – the famous detective and many more. These characters spoke about various changes they could bring in one’s life by inspiring the reader. The students were mesmerized by the mime act that kept their eyes glued to the performers who extended the message of never to give up by highlighting the life of a writer. The assembly came to an end with the motivational messages of Ms. Anshu Mallika Kumar – the Middle Wing Incharge and Ms. Chandrani DeSarkar who encouraged the students to pay due regards to the support staff in the school and even at homes.

Labour Day in India is celebrated annually on May 1^st to honour and pay tribute to workers and their contribution towards making our lives easier. The Labour Day is a special occasion is an occasion that pays tribute and respect to workers and their contribution towards making our lives easier.

To mark this day, few activities were planned for the students of Primary Wing, Blue Bells Model School. Class III and IV made beautiful Thank you cards for the support staff and class V made posters to show their gratitude for the timely help and support extended by them. The students gave thank you cards to the labours and understood that they should to respect each and every labour and there is no substitute for hard work.

The above thought instilled a thought amongst the students of Classes VIII D & VIII A; keeping it in mind they conducted the assembly on Earth Day to spread Eco-consciousness amongst the students. The Assembly initiated with a Group Song conveying the message of conserving greenery through their melodious voice that echoed in the hearts of the listeners and instigated in them a feeling of being sensitive towards the environment. This was followed by an informative e-bulletin wherein the students spoke about various steps taken not only in India but also around the whole world. The words for improving pronunciation were also related to the environment. The musical dance drama was a brilliant display of expression by the students to show their concern for Mother Earth. Ms. Vidhi Airun concluded the assembly with a message of conserving natural resources.

To make the students aware of the depleting resources from the Earth, Earth Day was celebrated with much enthusiasm on April 21, 2017 by the Primary Wing of Blue Bells Model School. An array of interesting activities was planned for the students. Class III made colourful bookmarks that also carried a message to save Earth. Class IV was involved in stone (as paper weight ) painting activity wherein they painted stones beautifully and wrote a slogan on them. Claas V students displayed their artistic talents by creating useful things out of recycled material. Students also brought saplings which they planted as a part of Earth Day activity to spread the message of ‘Each one, plant one’.

Connect with earth today; see her healing from abuse, greed and ignorance; feel her energetic resonance; match her vibration; and accelerate the evolution of human thinking.

The earth is known by the wealth of natural resources stored in its womb and there is hope if WE – the people – begin to awaken that spiritual part of ourselves with heartfelt knowledge that WE are the caretakers of this planet. We cebrated GREEN DAY to spread awareness and consciousness amongst the students to preserve the bountiful gifts of nature and also to commemorate the birthday of the Founder Chairperson of the school, Late Sri B. D. Gulati. The assembly was conducted by class X B. It commenced on a pious note with prayer, news and thought related to environment. Ms. Chandan Dhawan, Principal of the school addressed the gathering. She spoke on the contribution of the Chairperson in shaping young minds and in the growth of the school and society at large. She also stressed upon the responsibilities of the young generation in shielding the environment. An informative Power Point Presentation highlighted how the depleting natural resources can be preserved and safeguarded. Students presented a melodious group song conveying the message that each and every person should develop good ethics and values like tolerance, patience and most importantly kindness and compassion towards nature and living things. Yagika Beniwal of class X delivered a speech enumerating the rich legacy, values and ideals established by the Founder Chairperson. The assembly concluded with the students’ pledge that they would work collectively and in harmony with Mother Nature to keep their green legacy preserved. Middle Wing students participated in Poster Making Activity displaying thought-provoking messages on ‘Go green’ and marked the day by planting saplings. An array of interesting activities were organised for the students of Primary Wing like  Bookmark Designing , Paper Weight making using multihued stones, Slogan Writing and creating useful items from Waste. A ‘Signature Campaign’ was conducted for the students to create a sense of eco-responsibility and all were motivated to sign on an Environmental Pledge. Through such numerous activities the students of Blue Bells exhibited their commitment in abiding environmental etiquettes in everyday life to conserve the green heritage of the earth and fulfill the vision of their mentor and guru, Late Sri B.D. Gulati.

'New hope - new dreams - new aspirations'

Always be delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start with perhaps a bit of magic waiting somewhere behind the morning.

The new batch of class III students gave their first presentation on the stage. This activity was performed on April 19, 2017 to encourage the students to face the audience. The students were prepared for song and dance presentation. The melodious song and vibrant dances were much appreciated. Class III A was seen  getting into groove to perform on the song ‘I aren’t your mamma’ ,students of class III B presented ‘Ganesh Vandana’, III C to made us all dance to their aerobic steps and III D came up  with a song ‘Ye waqt hamara hai’. Keeping the spirit of the day alive Bhangra was presented by the students of classes III and IV.

Respected Principal Madam welcomed the students of class III to Blue Bells Model School and appreciated them for their performance and encouraged them to keep up their enthusiasm for every event.
