INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD BY BRITISH COUNCIL
Blue Bells Model School, Sec-4, Gurgaon has been accredited with the British Council International Award 2014-15. The award has been conferred for the strides that Blue Bells has made in enriching teaching -learning processes by grooming teachers and students into global mentors and pupils.
The International School award was accomplished under the patronage of Ms. Anshuka Aneja, Deputy Director ,IT , Blue Bells Group of Schools ,who fostered innovation, team building and project management in the students. The objective was to nurture global citizens and provide unique educational experience through interactions, exchange of mails, visit to embassies and videoconferencing. The projects were guided by the ISA coordinator Ms Anshu Malika Kumar (Middle Wing Incharge) who effectively shouldered the responsibility to infuse international dimension and include global perspectives into our students’ learning experiences. The students across all age groups maneuvered their way to accomplish the first level of ISA project with complete zest and passion. The stride was taken up through a multidisciplinary approach towards education and its beneficiaries. Where each and every participant under-went an absolutely different and vibrant learning experience of various fields and subjects like literature, art, social sciences, sciences, ICT, Fashion studies, management and mathematics. It comprised of 9 distinct projects where art and literature was kept at par with political conscience, fashion did a parade ,the value of pi rediscovered , flora and fauna along with mighty mountains shared space with community and society.
The expedition was full of landmarks where ‘Poesy through Pictures’ and bio-sketching of favorite novel characters were created and enjoyed by the primary wing students of standard III and IV , making the path more jovial was theatre wherein the students of standard IX enacted the two genres of ‘Romantic Comedy’ and ‘Tragedy’ of Shakespeare’s play . The process would have been incomplete without the involvement of community. Parents and other visitors witnessed the gala exhibition sparkling ‘INGENUITY’ where ‘Fun with block printing’ was showcased by fashionable clique students of class XI and XII. Giving tone to the stroll were the Learners of standard VII and VIII who depicted their flair by exploring ‘Through the Multicultural Highway’ of various art forms .
We believe that the planet belongs to animal life as much as it belongs to us. The little lads of standard V and VI expressed their concerns for the endangered animals and simultaneously celebrated the presence of migratory birds at the Sultanpur bird sanctuary by creating a blog for them.
Making sure that none was excluded, the students of class XI and XII went a step ahead and joined hands with the partner school Daffodils International School ,Dhaka, Bangladesh, to carry out a ‘Tree Census’ which enabled students to analyze the per capita green environment across the two nations and enriched them with resourceful community experiences.
The students of classes VII and VIII expressed environmental concern by creating a panorama of restless mountains of Uttarakhand and their ruination. An action plan was made on disaster preparedness which displayed their empathetic approach towards the loss-bearers.
Not to forget the role of state in a child’s life, the students of classes IX and X demonstrated an understanding of the various roles in the legislature through a mock parliament and debate sessions where the children were seen as responsible citizens who valued laws and abided by them.
Just like our lives, this project also had a significant role of numbers and logical way of doing things, where children of standard VII, VIII and IX shared the history and evolution of PI (Π) with their counterparts in Evans High School, Black Town, Sydney, Australia through web-conferencing, exhibiting ingenious in technology. This ongoing journey of knowledge established a benchmark of perseverance and dedication for the coming times. We are determined to carry this legacy forward by going GLOCAL to make our education an enriching learning process.
