Teachers’ Training Session by Blue Planet

Blue Bells Model School organized a Teachers Training Session on 12th July 2023 from 2:30-3:30 PM, conducted by the Blue Planet Environmental Solutions under the Blue Nudge initiative. The focus of the session was on the upcoming Waste Collection Drive, specifically aimed at paper recycling, to be launched in the school. The session aimed to equip teachers with knowledge and strategies to effectively implement the recycling initiative and educate students about the importance of waste management. The resource persons from the Blue Planet Team provided comprehensive training on waste segregation, collection methods, and the recycling process. The session encouraged active participation and engagement, fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among the teaching staff.

Assembly on to 'Van Mahotsav - The Festival of Trees’ – Class VII B

The grade VIIB students organized a special assembly on 11th July 2023 in the school auditorium, dedicated to 'Van Mahotsav - The Festival of Trees.' The primary objective of this assembly was to raise awareness about the importance of tree plantation. The stage was brimming with a wide array of events that captivated the audience.

The assembly commenced with a thought-provoking reflection on the environment, stimulating the audience's contemplation. This was followed by a news update, providing the latest information related to environmental issues. An enlightening and compelling speech was delivered, emphasizing the significance of Van Mahotsav and its impact on our surroundings. To enhance the presentation and deliver the message in a more vivid and engaging manner, a short video showcasing the importance of this festival was shown.

The assembly also included a quiz session that tested the participants' knowledge about the significance of Van Mahotsav. This interactive segment allowed the students to actively participate and further deepen their understanding of the subject.

In order to portray the message in a visually captivating way, the students performed a mesmerizing and riveting dance on melodious environmental songs. Their graceful outfits added an extra charm to the performance, leaving the audience enthralled. Following the dance, a melodious group song on saving the environment was presented, resonating with the theme of the assembly.

Ms. Neelam Samanta, the class teacher, and Ms. Anshu Mallika Kumar, the Wing Incharge, encouraged the students to take a pledge to protect the environment, conserve water, and actively engage in tree planting. Their motivating words inspired the students to become responsible stewards of the environment.

The assembly concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem, uniting everyone in a shared sense of pride and patriotism. The event successfully conveyed the message of Van Mahotsav and highlighted the importance of tree plantation, leaving a lasting impact on the attendees.

Assembly On Guru Purnima_Grade IV-E

           A special assembly on Guru Purnima at Blue Bells Model School was commenced that honoured the significance of gurus in our lives. It was conducted by Grade IV E students with gratitude. The assembly began with a beautiful doha followed by speech highlighting the importance of gurus in our lives. Students presented their gratitude through heartwarming poems , songs ,dance  and handmade cards  to depict the significance of gurus in guiding and shaping young minds. The assembly was addressed by Ms Alka Singh ,Principal and Ms Pallavi Singh ,Wing-Incharge who shared their insights on the importance of teachers.The celebration served as a reminder of the importance of lifelong learning and the profound impact that teachers have on their student’s journey of knowledge and self -discovery.

Adventure in the Wild: Rupin Supin Trekking Expedition

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

Boulder-filled pathways, the continuous steeps, the forested areas, the beautiful waterfalls, the impressive greenery on the meadows, the glaciers, the rocky structures, the narrow gorges, the high passes, and the mesmerizing mountains were the famous ingredients of a remarkable trekking expedition undertaken by a group of school children from Blue Bells Model School. This thrilling adventure took place in the Rupin Supin Trek which is situated across the Himalayan Mountain range from 31^st May to 8^th June 2023.

A comprehensive planning process was carried out. The organizing committee, comprised of teachers and experienced trekking guides, coordinated logistics, risk assessments, and ensured participants were well-prepared. The students received thorough training in hiking techniques, campsite setup, navigation skills, and safety protocols. The trekking route was carefully selected to offer a balance between challenge and safety.

The expedition began and traversed through lush valleys, dense forests, and challenging terrains, finally reaching the Vijay Top Summit, 3878 meters high from sea level. The itinerary included daily hiking distances, rest stops, and overnight camping locations, allowing students to appreciate the diverse landscapes and wildlife.

The school children encountered a myriad of experiences and overcame various challenges. They were mesmerized by the breath-taking beauty of nature, including cascading waterfalls, snow-capped peaks, and vibrant flora and fauna. Students also learned about environmental conservation, responsible trekking practices, and the importance of preserving natural habitats.

The expedition presented physical and mental challenges, testing the resilience and determination of the participants. Students navigated steep ascents, slippery trails, and unpredictable weather conditions. By supporting and motivating each other, they successfully overcame these obstacles, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie and personal growth.

The trekking expedition undertaken by our school children proved to be an enriching and transformative experience. It provided a unique platform for students to connect with nature, foster personal growth, and develop lifelong skills. The expedition not only nurtured a spirit of adventure and exploration but also instilled a deep appreciation for the environment and the need for its conservation. Such endeavours serve as a testament to the school's commitment to holistic education and experiential learning.

BBMS CELEBRATES WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY

‘The tobacco plantation is a menace which is poisoning our planet incessantly...’

The growing food crisis in the world is a repercussion of conflicts and wars, climatic shocks, and the economic and social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Here, the choice of growing Tobacco crops by the farmers for economic gain adds to the woes and increases food insecurity. With a vision to sensitize all stakeholders about the ill effects of Tobacco use and plantations, ‘World No Tobacco Day’, was celebrated in the school on May 25, 2023, on the theme – ‘We need Food, not Tobacco.’

A Special Morning Assembly was organized by the Health & Wellness Team under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS for Classes VI-VIII and IX-XII respectively. Assembly was moderated by the Peer Educators of Classes VII-X and the focus of the assemblies was to create awareness among the students and teachers on the harmful effect caused due to excessive plantation of tobacco for material profits. A clique of students was felicitated for placards, which they had curated for the Inter-School Competition by the Indian Cancer Society on the theme of WNTD2023 - ‘We need food, not Tobacco.’ The senior students also presented the award winning ‘Skit’ on the same theme and showcased how the yield of tobacco is harming the environment and is becoming the cause of pain and misery later. Ihinaa Hans, Health & Wellness Ambassador, BBMS shared her views and facts about harmful effects of using tobacco and she further requested each and every member of the august gathering to take a Pledge on World No Tobacco Day and be committed to ‘Say No to Tobacco.’ The Principal, Ms. Alka Singh, addressed the gathering and made them understand the cause and ill effects of tobacco use and how being a sensitive individual each one can spread awareness and make informed choices and decisions. The Assembly closed on a promising note with a SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN, which was given a befitting start by Ms. Alka Singh, the Principal. Thereby, the Wing In-charges, Health & Wellness team members, teachers, and students filled the pledge with creative stickers and further created awareness on this core issue. The overwhelming response to the indigenous endeavors motivated the team for future ventures.  

Unforgettable Trails: Chakrata & Deoban Trekking Expedition

We are constantly shown the “real world” on our screens but we come face to face with the real world out on the trail.

The education trek trip to Chakrata and Deoban was organized for the students of Blue Bells Model School from 1st June -5th June 2023. Located in the captivating Himalayan region of Uttarakhand, Chakrata provided a stunning backdrop for an adventurous and rewarding journey. The purpose of the trip was to provide students of Class IX and X with an opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the region and learn about the local ecosystem, biodiversity, and conservation efforts. The trip aimed to enhance their knowledge in environmental science and foster a sense of appreciation for nature.

The students and accompanying faculty members arrived in Chakrata, a serene hill station located in Uttarakhand, India on the first day. After a warm welcome by the local tour guide, an orientation session was given to familiarize students with the itinerary and safety guidelines for the trek. To acclimatize to the surroundings and weather, an evening trek to the biodiversity forest was arranged where children enjoyed the beauty of the biodiversity Park and got knowledge of the newly developed varieties of fruit trees.

On the second day, early in the morning, the team embarked on a trek to Deoban, which is known for its dense forests and panoramic views of the Himalayas. The students were excited and energized as they hiked through the picturesque trails, surrounded by tall oak and rhododendron trees. Along the way, our guide provided insightful information about the flora and fauna of the region, highlighting the importance of conservation.

The third day was dedicated to exploring the natural wonders of Deoban. The students actively participated in activities such as bird watching, nature photography, and studying plant species while trekking. In the next stage of the hike, we reached at the summit - the Vyas Shikhar vantage point which is at a height of 3000 meters. They captured the sight of Himalayan peaks like Bandar Poonch, Swargrohini, Black Peak, and Gangotri Group of peaks.On the final day, students packed their belongings and bid farewell to Chakrata and Deoban.

 The Chakrata trekking expedition proved to be a transformative and awe-inspiring journey. Participants had the opportunity to explore the natural wonders of Chakrata, immersing themselves in its beauty and serenity. The expedition fostered a deeper connection with nature, promoted physical fitness, and nurtured personal growth and resilience. Through cultural interactions and environmental awareness, participants gained a greater appreciation for the region's heritage and the importance of preserving its pristine beauty. The Chakrata trekking expedition created lasting memories and instilled a lifelong love for outdoor exploration and adventure.

CYBER SECURITY WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS

 To understand the importance of cybersecurity in the educational environment, an interactive workshop on "Cybersecurity” was organized for the teachers of Blue Bells Model School and Blue Bells Preparatory School on 27th May 2023 in the school premises.  The Resource Person, Dr Rakshit Tandon, Cyber Security Expert and Director Executive-Council of Information Security designed this special workshop to equip educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote digital safety and protect their students' information in the digital age. The Cyber Security geek, Dr Tandon is an advisor on Cyber Safety to Blue Bells Group of Schools.  The IT Department, under the flagship of Madam Anshuka Aneja, Deputy Director, IT Department, Blue Bells Group of Schools has worked wonders towards empowerment of students as well as mentors. On the occasion, Madam Anshuka expressed that the workshop’s impact is expected to extend beyond the participating teachers, as they will now be able to guide and educate their students about cybersecurity risks and best practices. The event served as a vital step toward creating a safer digital learning environment for students.

The session focused on promoting ethical online conduct among students and addressing cyberbullying prevention and intervention strategies. The teachers were encouraged to foster critical thinking and media literacy skills. The Cyber Security Expert also briefed teachers about Sanchaar Saathi and recent collaboration of Delhi Police with True-Caller. Strategies for integrating cybersecurity into our day to day life were discussed. The workshop concluded with an interactive Q & A session, allowing teachers to seek clarification on any topics covered during the workshop.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness about common cybersecurity threats, provide practical strategies to mitigate risks, and encourage responsible online behaviour among teachers.

Family is a single word with many meanings. A family holds a special place in the life of an individual. Taking time every day to appreciate your loved ones and to reconnect as a family can feel very refreshing.

Every year Family Day provides an opportunity to promote awareness of issues relating to families and to come close together and celebrate the essence of being a family.

Everyone needs a house to live in, but a supportive family is what builds a home. The students of grade XII- F, presented an assembly on, “International Family Day”. Maximum number of students  participated in the assembly. The students showcased importance of this delicate bond through a skit, which left the audience awe-struck. On the occasion , the Principal, Ms Alka Singh expressed  that as we celebrate Mother's Day ,it is essential that we take a moment to reflect upon the immeasurable love, sacrifice and unwavering support that our mothers provide us each and every day.

Who knew that Blue Bells Model School would become a family to us which proves that some bonds don’t require blood relations. The students of XII- F owe everything to this family !!

Digital Content Designing Competition

Blue Bells Model School Hosted ‘A Digital Content Designing Competition’

"Protect yourself from cybercrime: Stay informed, stay safe. Security is a shared responsibility.’’

Cybersecurity is immensely essential for protecting one’s data, networks, programs and other information from unauthorized or unattended access, destruction or change. In an effort to empower and make today’s youth aware about the threats and consequences of the world of cybercrime, the Gurugram Cyber Police had organized an array of events under the Cyber Champs initiative. Blue Bells Model School sec-4, Gurugram, hosted the ‘Digital Content Designing Competition’ ideated by Gurugram Cyber Police in which 39 schools from across Gurugram participated. The Cyber Congress team of the school under the aegis and able guidance of Ms. Anshuka Aneja, Deputy Director IT, BBGS organized the competition dexterously. The participating schools made a video on Cyber Crime and the school gave a platform for the screening and judging each video under the adjudication of SHO Jasvir Singh, Gurugram Police in Cyber Crime, SHO Shaheed Ahmed Gurugram Police in Cyber Crime, Mayank Agarwal, Serial Entrepreneur, Varun Soni, a Cybersecurity Expert, Jagdish Baweja, Cyber Security Officer and theatre experts Mr. Mohan Kant, Mr Harsh and Mr Bharat ,renowned theatre artists and cinematographers. 

The event was presided by DCP Siddhant Jain, South Gurugram Police, and Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, Director, BBGS. Ms. Alka Singh, Principal of the school accorded a formal welcome to the distinguished guests, jury members and the students and teachers of the participating schools. The event is a wonderful initiative of ACP Priyanshu Dewan, Gurugram Cyber Police for creating cyber safety awareness. The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by a melodious group song and rendition of a well synchronized group dance based on Cyber Crime. The Cyber Congress team presented a PPT showcasing the activities that are conducted in the school to update school students from time to time on cybercrime and cyber security. Ms. Anshuka Aneja addressed the gathering by stating that the time is now to strike right on cybercrime and today’s young generation should be empowered to keep themselves safe and secured. Madam Saroj Suman Gulati appreciated students’ innovative ideas in making the videos wherein the participants from all the schools tried their best to exhibit their knowledge to tackle cybercrime. The jury members were astounded looking at the creativity of the participants and they wholeheartedly applauded their ingenious thoughts. DAV Public School, Sec-14, Gurugram was awarded the first position, HDFC School clinched the second position and Blue Bells Model School, Sec-4, Gurugram bagged the third position. All the thought-provoking videos brought forth an awareness amongst the viewers to know more about Cybercrime and strategies to combat cyber hackers who breach cybersecurity defences.
