VANMAHOTSAV CELEBRATION “ENVIRONMENT CONSERVATION – A NECESSITY FOR EXISTENCE.”

The school celebrated Vanmahotsav on July 18, 2019 to sensitize all on the need for saving Mother Earth. The work was ardently carried on with zest by the young nature lovers and was whole heartedly supported by the Management of the school.

To commemorate the day, a special assembly was conducted by the students of class XA and XB . The assembly commenced with the prayer song and school pledge followed by a beautiful thought to save the green foliage of mother earth. The students were updated with the latest news along the significance of the week. A self-composed poem ‘Ao Milke Badhay Kadam’ was recited by Jasmine of Class XA highlighting the importance of saving forests. A thought provoking documentary was presented to emphasize the fact that the inhabitants of earth are highly responsible to safeguard the green landscape of the earth.

The Blue Bellians upheld the vision of ‘Clean Earth, Green Earth’ and religiously urged all to follow the principle of 3 R’s – Reduce , Recycle and Reuse and pledged to work as an effective team to save our earth from being depleted of its greenery and precious resources

Special Assemblies By Peer Educators

“Awareness is the key to good health.”

At Blue Bells we believe that children can surely make a difference to the society.  In order to do so, they just need to be empowered with the right information and awareness regarding different issues prevalent in the society.  With the aim of sensitizing students with the ways to combat the deadly disease Dengue, special assemblies were held for students of classes III- XII. These sessions were  conducted as a part of the Peer Educator Programme, under the aegis of the Health & Wellness Programme of the school spearheaded by Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health  & Wellness), Blue Bells Group of Schools.

The assembly for primary wing students was held on July 15, 2019 in which they were shown an animated video on Dengue. The video highlighted the causes and symptoms of the disease along with some ways to prevent it. The assemblies for classes VI- VIII and IX- XII were held on July 16, 2019 and July 18,2019 respectively.

Information regarding the prevention of the disease, the breeding condition of the mosquitoes and steps that could be taken to reduce the risk of acquiring the disease were shared with the help of a power point presentation.

At the end of all these sessions, a quiz was conducted to check the understanding of the students about the disease. Students responded very well and showcased sound understanding of the content.

The noteworthy feature of the assembly was that the whole programme was presented by the Health & Wellness Ambassador from class XII and Peer Mentor from class XI, under the guidance of the Health & Wellness Team.

In addition to spreading awareness through the assemblies, posters on Dengue Awareness and Tips for Monsoon, have been put across the school as well as on the school website.

Blue Bells Model School celebrates ‘World Population Day’

‘Earth is the only known planet to live, let it be spacious.’

Mother earth is our home and the inhabitants of this beautiful planet should keep it clean, pollution free and less crowded. The NCC cadets of the school took the initiative to bring awareness amongst the students the need to check population explosions across the globe. They took a pledge emphasizing the fact that one child family is the call of the day. They solemnly underlined the reality that birth control is a boon to combat increasing population and save mankind. The Principal of the school appreciated the students earnest concern for the cause.

REGIONAL LEVEL DEBATE COMPETITION ORIENTATION BY MR. SALIL SINGH, FOUNDER – BEHES AT BLUE BELLS MODEL SCHOOL, SECTOR 4, GURUGRAM

The school organized the Orientation Sessions for the  students of Classes  VI -XII on July 9, 2019 . The sessions were  conducted by Mr. Salil Singh,   a Renowned Debate Coach and Academic Trainer & Founder Of Behes Consultants which has successfully conducted debate competitions all over India and abroad too.

It was an interactive one-hour session each for the students of Classes VI to VIII and IX to XII respectively where the students were taught the need to focus on relevant and pressing issues while debating. It was also stressed that debate is not merely a competitive exercise but one which could provide a meeting ground for like-minded people and helps each one to understand different aspects of an issue.

The students were also apprised that Blue Bells Model School , Sector 4, Gurugram  is hosting the regional round of India’s largest team debate tournament Behes on 20 &  21 July, 2019.

It was a good learning experience for the children

SUBJECT ENRICHMENT WORKSHOP ON ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS STUDIES

 A  Subject Enrichment  Workshop in Economics , Business Studies  and Accountancy  was organized by Blue Bells Model School for the teachers of BBGS  on July 5, 2019 . The eminent Resource Person for the Workshop was Mr. Subhash Dey, a living legend and renowned author of Commerce books.

Sir focused on the latest changes in the curriculum, paper designing and framing of objective type questions of Business Studies,  Economics and Accountancy. Each concept was taken in detail and various aspects regarding the same were discussed. He made all the staff members introspect by putting up questions which can be expected  in upcoming board exams. 

In particular,  he dealt with the topics like slope (demand, supply, consumption curves), derivations from Income and Employment,  concepts from National Income, Balance of Payments etc. from Economics, Case studies from Leadership, Staffing, Directing, Organising, Communication from Business Studies and Journal entries and their Accounts from  Partnership, treatment of loan, capital, capital of deceased partner, step by step procedure of accounting in NPO's along with formats and much more. 

Handouts regarding changes in syllabus, important notes, question bank of the three subjects and their solutions, objective type questions were shared. It was a very interesting and interactive session which was closed by the query handling session. Apart  from subject knowledge, the main take away for the participants were humanity, selfless service, love for each child and making the  subject interesting.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

BLUE BELLS MODEL SCHOOL PROMOTES YOGA FOR  HEALTH & WELLBEING AT THE INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION

At Blue Bells , we believe in giving adequate importance to  Yoga education so that our young buds develop their Kinaesthetic skills, as it  not only imbibes rich values in them  but also instils a sense of discipline , fellow –feeling and togetherness.  In pursuance of the same vision , a group of 30 students along with the Yoga Instructor Ms. Deepa Sharma represented the school at the 5^th International Yoga Day Celebration on June 21, 2019 at Tau Devi Lal Stadium to promote the adoption of Common Yoga Protocol ( CYP)  issued by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.  The Yoga Session was inaugurated by Rao Inderjit Singh , Member of Parliament, Government of India. The students were presented with T-Shirts with the logo of International Yoga Day for their ardent effort in promoting Yoga for holistic growth and development.

The students performed various asanas followed by Omkar chanting. Group Yoga Demonstration based on Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) was the centre-piece of activities related to the celebration . During the course of “Yogabhyas”, everyone was also briefed on  the usefulness of different “Asanas” in curing many diseases and the usefulness of Yoga in the overall wellbeing of individuals.   The entire “YOGABHYAS” lasted for an hour and closed with a “Sanskrit Shloka” and Oath by all the participants that they will continue to practice Yoga for keeping their Body and mind in healthy, stress-free and cheerful condition.

The Blue Bellians pledged to make Yoga the way of their life and practice it regularly to achieve a better life, physically, mentally and spiritually as  it leads  to the union of an individual consciousness with the universal consciousness.

MOTHERHOOD- A NARRATIVE OF UNCONDITIONAL LOVE & DEVOTION MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION AT BLUE BELLS MODEL SCHOOL

“A Mother is she who can take the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take”

Mother’s Day is a special day, for all children and mothers, as it celebrates the bond of love and affection that is everlasting. Mothers are the emotional backbone of the family, who have the magic touch to heal all wounds and make all things beautiful.

A mother holds a unique place in the life of her children. To honour these ultimate embodiments of unconditional love, Blue Bells Model School celebrated Mother’s Day on 18th May, 2019. Mothers were specially invited to spend a memorable day filled with activities and fun. The venue was aptly decorated in keeping with the theme ‘Celebrating the bond of unconditional love between Mother and Child’ on the occasion. On behalf of the Health and Wellness team, Ashita Raghav ,the Health and Wellness Ambassador, delivered a speech to honour the warmth, affection and care of these admirable souls. To celebrate this Saga of unconditional love, attractive boards displaying the creativity of children were also displayed. Mother’s Day cards with heart-touching messages, Jewellery Boxes, Flower Bouquets and Scrap Books designed by the students of primary wing as a part of ‘INIZIO’- A BEGINNING, Health & Wellness Fiesta, on the theme Celebrating the bond of unconditional love between Mother and Child, under the aegis of Health & Wellness Programme, adorned the venue and were a reflection of their gratitude towards their mothers.

Mothers were enthralled by these myriad presents gifted to them as a token of reverence, which exalted the mother as teacher, friend, philosopher and guide, and emphasised the truth that a mother’s love is the energy that enables and nurtures a child’s blossoming into a wonderful and special human being.

Under the initiative and guidance of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS, a session was organized for the participating mothers on “Awareness towards breast cancer and cervical cancer in females”. This was an eye opener for all the mothers and became the highlight of the day. The speaker Dr. Divya Sehra, Associate Consultant, Gynaecology Oncology, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon, took a session on Breast and Cervical Cancer for the all the mothers present. She spoke about the causes, symptoms and prevention for both kinds of cancer in detail. Dr. Divya also shared the age at which preventive measures should be taken and the different kinds of preventive measures available. She urged all the mothers to take care of themselves as they are the pillars of the family and society.

The day ended with all mothers and children, enjoying themselves and taking back fond memories of a day well spent.

Stage –O- Rama

Blue Bells Hosted Theatre Fest ‘Stage –O- Rama’

“Act well your part; there all the honour lies.”

Acting is not about being recognised, it’s about exploring the human soul. The stage is a magic circle and a neutral territory where the most real things happen outside the jurisdiction of destiny. To make students enjoy this voyage and treasure school days, Blue Bells Model School, Sec-4, Gurugram organized an Inter-House Theatre Fest, Stage –O- Rama on May16 and 17, 2019. The two days Theatre Fest was conceived and nurtured by Ms. Soumya Gulati, Deputy Director Academic Development and Innovation, BBGS. The event commenced with diya lighting followed by shloka recital. Ms. Alka Singh, Principal of the school extended a hearty welcome to the august gathering with an underlying message that theatre brings reformation in one’s life. The stunning theatrical rendition of Pratham Sharma was a highly applauded curtain raiser for the mega event and he was felicitated with the Special Award for his outstanding performance. Different houses staged both Hindi and English plays exhibiting their intrinsic proficiency of theatrical skills. The students’ passion in playing various roles in English plays ‘Candida’, ‘Pygmalion’, You Can Never Tell and ‘Too True To Be Good’ and Hindi plays ‘Hiranya Kashyap Ka Murder’,‘Patloon’ ‘Ojha Fanoosh’ and ‘Mata Dein Chand Par’ were noteworthy and spectacular. Students deftly played an important part starting from selecting and editing the scripts, directing the plays and by lending light and sound effect. The eminent jury Mr. Binod Sharma, the Associate Director at Theatre Artists of India, New Delhi, Mrs. Shefali Chopra, a theatre expert and Gouri Nilakantan Mehta, a renowned playwright were highly appreciative of the magnificent portrayal of each play. The distinguished jury along with the Deputy Director felicitated the Best Actor in Hindi being Shagun Jain and Bhavik Madan and in English Saransh Singh Rawat, Best Actress in English Radhika Pabreja and in Hindi Lakshita Sharma, Best Director in Hindi Kuhu Singh and in English Khushi Jain. ‘Candida’ was declared the Best Play performed by Nehru House in English and ‘Ojha Fanoosh’ by Mother Teresa House in Hindi. The Overall Trophy was bagged by Mother Teresa House. The judges addressed the students and encouraged them to hone their skills and attain brilliance in the realm of acting. Darpan Hans, the Head Boy of the school presented the vote of thanks.

Inter –House Drama Competition

Rabindra Jayanti is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Rabindranath Tagore's legacy and contribution to the field of Bengali and English Literature can be gauged from the respect his name commands at every utterance.

From being the first non-European to clinch the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913 to establishing a full-fledged university with the aim of challenging conventional education, Tagore is a name that is revered even today.

With his profound and articulate poetry and prose still shaping the literary universe, he is an inspiration to the present generation as well.

In order to develop dramatic skills, promote acting ability among students and to pay tribute to this literary personality and an Inter –House Drama Competition was held for the students of Primary Wing on May 13, 2019. Team comprising of 8-10 students from all the four Houses enacted excerpts from the famous plays written by Tagore.

The judgment was done on the basis of acting, costumes and dialogue delivery. Judgement was really tough due to the wonderful performances put up by the participating teams. The expressions and acting were appreciated by one and all. Truly they transcended the audience to the world of Tagore where they beautifully captured the essence of some of his works with imagination. Tagore House clinched First Position while Indira Gandhi House bagged the Second Position. There was a tie for the Third Position between Nehru House and Mother Teresa House. An instrumental and musical rendition by the students left everyone spellbound.

All the teams received thunderous applause from the judges and audience.
