Hardware is easy to protect: lock it in a room, or chain it to a desk. Information poses more of a problem. It can exist in more than one place; be transported halfway across the planet in seconds; and be stolen without one's knowledge.”

With the introduction of new technologies, cyber safety has become a major concern nowadays. With an endeavour to empower the students in the judicious usage of technology, Blue Bells Model School, Gurugram, organized an enlightening and interactive Cyber Safety Awareness Workshop for the mothers  on March 11, 2019, under the visionary leadership of Ms. Anshuka Aneja, Deputy Director IT, Blue Bells Group of Schools. It was a venture to mark the International Womens’ Day. The objective was to spread cyber awareness among them as they play a pivotal role in the upbringing of children.

The resource person was renowned Cyber Security Expert and Consultant , Mr Rakshit Tandon.

 In his address, he stressed upon the safety measures to be adopted while using the internet. Various myths about anonymity of users were broken. The mothers were educated about the recent burning issues like social media related myths, hacking and how to stay safe online. He told that it has become imperative to keep pace with technological changes and convert fearful victims, especially women to face cyber crimes against them confidently and be empowered consumers of online services including e-wallets and other payment portals. Gullibility of users was discussed and essential safety measures to be adopted while working on the internet were highlighted. The audience were trained on how to remain safe on social media sites rather than using the very clichéd topics.

 Mothers clarified their doubts with respect to the routine activities they undertake on the internet.  The workshop ignited the spark of curiosity about the dangers posed by the indiscriminate usage of internet. Each attendee had expressed that the workshop was beneficial and they learnt about safe guarding their internet and mobile applications.

INTERACTIVE SESSION ON “LET’S TALK ABOUT PUBERTY” FOR CLASS 5 GIRLS

‘Change is inevitable.’

Puberty: It is the transition time where both boys and girls experience changes physically, cognitively, emotionally and socially. During this period of change, confusions and concerns of children need to be addressed, In sync with this an interactive session was organized by Health and wellness team on 28th February, 2019 for class V girls. Session conducted by Dr. Rekha Soni (school doctor) under the guidance of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director Health and Wellness, Blue Bells Group of Schools.

The girls were made aware about physical, emotional, hormonal and social changes during Puberty. Girls were able to understand the meaning of puberty. They understood that puberty is a series of natural changes that every child goes through. Mood changes and energy level variations are normal part of puberty. They understood the importance of balanced diet, drinking plenty of water, taking proper sound sleep, participating in outdoor games and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene for staying healthy and fit. Dr Soni provided useful ways they can look after themselves at this time so they can cope with the changes effectively. She encouraged young girls to share their concerns, doubts and address their feelings. It was an enriching and synergistic session for the girls.

UNITY IN DIVERSITY

'The beauty of the world lies in the diversity of its people'

“Unity in Diversity” is a phrase implying unity among people with diverse cultural, religious and other demographic differences. National Unity is our most priceless asset. Students of class V D organized a Special Assembly enlightening the students about the importance of Unity in Diversity, which is something our takes pride in.

The assembly began with a soothing song followed by a poem and a mime which reaffirmed our faith in uniqueness of multicultural India. 

The assembly was well presented and the message, to remain united in a diversified world, was delivered beautifully. The efforts of the students were commendable and applauded.

Candle March for the Martyrs of Pulwama

‘Warriors are not born but made in Indian Army!’

The students of Blue Bells Model School paid homage to the brave sons of India who were martyred in Pulwama. A candle-light march to honour the soldiers was organized by the students.The students joined the nation in expressing their deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs and prayed for the quick recovery of injured soldiers. They collectively voiced their deep concern over such inhuman acts and committed themselves to promote peace and solidarity in their own humble way.The loss of such brave souls is an irretrievable loss and we stand by the nation in this hour of grief.

Multiple Intelligence Camp at Primary Wing

‘The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.’

A Multiple Intelligence camp was organized for the Primary Wing students in the school premises on February 20, 2019. It was an enthralling experience for them as they got exposure to a variety of collaborative and exciting activities. At Blue Bells, teaching and learning go beyond the traditional approaches. The activities were in line with the Harvard’s theory of multiple intelligences. Zorbing ball, Flying fox, Coding with Mouse, Steam-based Science and Understanding 3D were the main attractions of the camp. The students also enjoyed dance, aerobics and story-telling. They were given hands on experience on pottery. They were able to recognize and implement their intelligence into specific 'modalities', rather than seeing intelligence dominated by a single general ability. A community lunch was organized wherein the students not only relished the sumptuous and hygienic food but also learnt the values of sharing, healthy eating habits and solidarity.  The day was indeed well spent. It helped in bringing out the best in the students.

BASANT PANCHAMI CELEBRATION

‘May the vibrance of the colour yellow fill your life with love and light’

‘Basant Panchmi’ is an occasion which marks the advent of the spring season and is also celebrated to worship Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge and wisdom.

Primary Wing students of Blue Bells Model School celebrated this day with great fervour and zest.They assembled to pray and attain blessings from Goddess Saraswati to reach the epitome of knowledge.

The pooja started with a harmonious Saraswati hymn which was followed by golden words of Ms. Tanuja Sharma and Ms.Neelam Ahuja. The scintillating dance performance by the students of Middle Wing added colour to the celebrations.

The students enjoyed the day and were enlightened by the blessings of Maa Saraswati. The Principal of the school blessed students with her words of wisdom on this auspicious day.

UNWRAPPING LEARNING PACKAGES’ –CHAPTER 2018-19

“Take pride in how much you have learnt

Have faith in how much you can learn!”

Learning is a continuous process which starts from what one knows and goes towards what one wants to know. Success in life comes through learning new skills, knowledge, capabilities and attitudes. Students learn better when they are actively engaged in the learning process. This helps the students learn and enhance various sets of skills and implement in their daily lives. 

At Blue Bells, we provide a platform to the students to showcase the best of their abilities and build a sense of belongingness between family and facilitators. ‘Unwrapping Learning Packages-Chapter 2018-19’, an event was organized by the Primary Wing of Blue Bells Model School, Sector 4 Gurugram to showcase the creativity of the students.

The event commenced ceremonially by lighting of Diya by the Principal and the parent representatives. Mascot ‘Curato’ was a great attraction of the day.

The event was conceptualized by the Learning and Development Centre ‘The Learning Space’ under the skillful guidance of Ms. Soumya Gulati, Deputy Director Academic Development and Innovation. Parents engaged themselves in the event and appreciated the Learning Progression and Thematic Transdisciplinary Approach. All the domains of learning were interwoven with the themes for the event- ‘Governing Ourselves and Diversity in the Living World.'

‘Unwrapping Learning Packages’ is indeed a perfect example of edutainment wherein learning happens through fun-filled activities. It is an exposure to the students to untangle the deeper and fuller understanding of their own experience through complete fun and recreational activities. The event included hands on experiments, Robotics presentation, THOTS, subject related and Physical Education games, art and craft and performing arts comprising of Book Parade, Nukkad Natak, Traffic Park, live singing and dance by the students.

The Health & Wellness Team under the guidance of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS created an impressive display-  ‘Elixir: Find Your Essence’ wherein a kaleidoscopic view of the Health & Wellness Programme was presented for Primary Wing, Value Education through School Cinema and Awareness on Safe Touch through aesthetically designed Display Boards. 

Primary Wing Students apprised the parents about the Health & Wellness Programme, Keeping  Ourselves Safe, Parenting tips for keeping the children safe, and value education which are imbibed in children through movies by School Cinema.

THOTS corner included thinking games like ‘Triviu, Honeycomb, Astromania, Flip and Flop, Intercept and Stack the Muffins’, which were conducted by specially trained students. The corner added a Midas touch to the event by showcasing a thoughtful mindset. The parents were mesmerized by the presentation given by the students and earnestly participated in the activities and games. 

The ICT corner, under the able guidance of Ms. Anshuka Aneja - Deputy Director IT, Blue Bells Group of Schools, displayed a myriad of activities for the parents. These activities involved active participation of parents. The students explained about Tux Paint drawing tools and Scratch games. Parents were also quizzed on the precautionary measures for Cyber Safety.  All were spell bound by the football tactics of ‘Robby Bonny’- The Robot.

As a part of the Community Outreach Programme self-crafted Hand painted mugs, Sceneries, Muffins, Pizzas and Bhel puri were put on sale. The proceeds thus collected will be contributed for a noble cause. There was 100 percent participation of the students. Parents’ involvement was tremendous and appreciable. Parents were impressed and elated to see their children being a part of such a prodigious event.

The Principal of the school appreciated students’ efforts and hard work for putting up an outstanding show.

ANNUAL SPORTS MEET - PRIMARY WING

‘Making an effort to win is everything’

The much-awaited Annual Sports Meet was held on 29^th January, 2019 with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere in Primary Wing of Blue Bells Model School.

The event categories included 100 meters races and Fun Races like Pack the Bag and Run, Stump and Ball Relay, Burst the Balloons Relay, Run and make the Shape with the Match Box, Balance and Collect the Ball Relay and Pick the Peas Relay. Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes from the audience. The participants displayed great sportsman spirit and team spirit.

Students were awarded with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and encouraged to participate in sports activities to stay healthy and fit.

‘Pariksha par Charcha’ by Narendra Modi

Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India took an earnest initiative to address the students of India who are due to appear for the Board examination on January 29, 2019. He wholeheartedly motivated to gear up the students for the Board Exam with confidence, conviction and self-belief. Blue Bells Model School, Sec-4, Gurugram availed this golden opportunity  and aired the live interaction ‘Pariksha  par Charcha’ by the Prime Minister for the students of the school. The students viewed the whole interactive session and appreciated the enterprise showcased by the Global Leader.
