International Yoga day & Award Ceremony 2016-17

‘Achievers never expose themselves, but their achievements expose them.’

International Yoga day was the highlight of today’s assembly (Class VI –VIII) which focused on how meditation can do wonders to a human body. The students of Class VII A put forth the message of inculcating Yoga in day to day life to lead a better life. A speech was delivered on ‘Importance of Yoga’, rendition of a poem and musical presentation added a spark to the assembly. The dance showcasing the different asanas of Yoga proved to be a cherry on the cake. The Class Incharge Ms. Tanuja Sharma also spoke to the students about maintaining a balance between their fast pacing life and yoga or meditation.

An award ceremony was organized for the students of Classes VII and VIII to honour them with academic award and full attendance award. The students were overwhelmed to receive the awards from the Principal, Ms. C. Dhawan and the Middle Wing Incharge, Ms. Anshu Kumar Mallika. The Principal congratulated the students for their marvelous performance and encouraged the other students to work with patience and consistency to achieve laurels in future.

Investiture Ceremony-Primary Wing Blue Bells Model School

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.”

Investiture ceremony is a formal ceremony of instituting a body of council consisting of student leadership. The investiture ceremony of Primary Wing of Blue Bells Model School was held on July 14, 2017. This annual event marked the beginning of the functioning of the new students’ council. On this occasion, the young talented contenders of various posts were given responsibilities and duties of leading their school.

The occasion began with school prayer and school song led by the school choir. This was followed by our Principal presenting the badges to the newly appointed student leaders. This formally inducted the students into the council. The students then pledged by taking the oath to fulfill to the best of their abilities, the responsibilities passed on to them.

During the ceremony, Taran Singh of class V B and Anandita Yadav, of class V D were appointed as Head Boy and Head Girl respectively. Others appointed were Bhavya Yadav of V A as Cultural Secretary, Anvi Goyal of V C as Literary Club Secretary, Tanmay Singh of V A as Sports Captain, Pranay Tehlan of V C as Computer Wizard. A House Captain and Vice Captain and six prefects were also inducted for each House.

Respected Principal, Madam Chandan Dhawan and Primary Wing Incharge, Ma’am Meenakshi Malhotra, who congratulated the new leaders and urged them to be exemplary leaders.

The event ended with the singing of the National Anthem.

International Yoga Day

“Yoga is the journey of the self, to the self, through the self.”

Yoga has countless benefits and it provides physical, mental and intellectual health. It is a practice that connects body, mind and spirit through various body postures.

To get an insight into the world of Yoga, students of class IV D presented their assembly on ‘International Yoga Day’ on July 12, 2017. The assembly began with a short poem and a talk on ‘Benefits of Yoga’ along with a power point presentation that was very informative. It enlightened the students about yoga  and  being an art and science of healthy living. A motivational song by the students was rhythmic and much appreciated.

Mass Yoga was conducted for all the students and they learnt different body postures. The meaning of each body posture and its significance was explained clearly to the students. The enthusiasm of the students was evident as they followed the directions.  Class Incharge, Ms Dibyanjali concluded the assembly with an inspiring shloka which conveyed that ‘Happiness be unto all, Perfect health be unto all, May all see that is good, May all be free from suffering.’

Respected Principal, Ma’am Chandan Dhawan, blessed the students with motivational words and encouraged them to practice yoga as it helps in keeping our mind calm and reduces stress.

Workshop on First Aid Training

With the support and felicitation of Indian Red Cross Society, the school organized a workshop on First Aid for the drivers, co-drivers, attendants and conductors from July 8, 2017 to July15, 2017.The main objective of the workshop was to create an awareness on first aid box and its application on an injured person in times of crisis and need. It is mandatory for all the drivers and their associates to have a certificate on Home Nursing from Saint John Ambulance Society. This workshop was attended by 127 drivers and their associates of Blue Bells Group of Schools. The workshop was ably conducted by Mr. Vikram Bhatnagar, an eminent first aid lecturer. The felicitator advised all the drivers to maintain the safety rules in their own lives as well as take care of the children and others.  

Van Mahotsav 

  “Think Green and Live Green”   To sensitize the students towards the importance of protecting the environment, Van Mahotsav is celebrated annually as tree plantation festival. On this occasion various activities were planned for the students of Primary Wing on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. Students of classes III and IV made posters on the theme ‘Clean India Green India’ that depicted different ways to conserve environment and keep our surroundings clean. Class V students displayed their creative skills by writing informative and relevant article on the given theme. The students of IV C presented an assembly to highlight the importance of the day. A skit performed by the students created awareness amongst them about environment. A melodious song on ‘Nature’ was well appreciated. Dance drama presented by the students was commendable. The message ‘Not to cut trees’ was well conveyed through their splendid expressions. It was most appreciated by one and all. Respected Wing Incharge, Ma’am Meenakshi Malhotra felicitated the winners of Skating and Roll Ball skating championship and motivated the students with inspiring words to participate in such events.   She also urged the students to adopt a plant to make our environment green pollution free.  

INTERNATIONAL FAMILY DAY

The students of class VII B conducted their assembly in sync with International Family Day which was celebrated on May 15, 2017 all around the world. The theme this year was “Families, education and well-being”. The assembly began with a speech followed by a motivational skit accompanied with a song and concluded with a group dance. The speech threw light on how family is like a music – some high notes, some low notes but they always remain a beautiful song. The skit conveyed a message about taking care of the family members and work upon their well-being. The song infused a desire amongst the audience to join their hands and ask the almighty to shower blessings upon their family members. The group dance filled the ambience of the hall with optimism. The Wing Incharge, Ms Anshu Kumar Mallika and the Class Incharge, Ms Manisha Gupta, motivated the students to take care of their family along with the Global Family i.e. the world.

‘Stage –O- Rama’

Blue Bells Hosted Theatre Fest ‘Stage –O- Rama’

“Act well your part; there all the honour lies.”

Theatre is the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another sense of what it is to be a human being. We hosted an Inter-House Theatre Fest – ‘Stage-O-Rama’ under the able guidance of Ms. Soumya Gulati, Deputy Director Academic Development and Innovation, Blue Bells Group of Schools. Different houses profusely staged plays both in Hindi and English in the two days’ Theatre Fest. Plays in Hindi and English were staged by different houses exhibiting the hidden expertise of theatrical skills amidst the students. The English plays were - ‘As You Like It’, ‘Macbeth’, ‘Merchant of Venice’, ‘Helen of Troy’ and the Hindi plays were - ‘Lakh Ki Nak’, ‘Arthheen’, ‘Darpan Awazo ka’ and Betowali Widhwa Ma’. The acumen of the students was captivating and enthralling. Starting from writing the scripts, directing the plays and lending lights and sound effects the students took all the tasks by their stride. The eminent judges were the alumni of National School of Drama - Mr. Mahesh Vashisht, Mr. Vishvaraman Nirmal and Mr. Vinod Sharma. Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, Director of Blue Bells Group of Schools, gave away the trophies to the winners. Tanay Gaur was declared the Best Actor in Hindi and Sarthak Nagpal in English, the Best Actress Award went to Manya Jhamb in English and Manya Gupta in Hindi, the Best Director Award in Hindi was given to Abhimanyu and in English it was Neha Sarkar. Special Award for Acting was bagged by Kamakshi and Abhav Malhotra. Mecbeth was declared as the Best Play performed by Tagore House in English and Lakh Ki Nak by Indira Gandhi House in Hindi. Overall Trophy was bagged by Nehru House. The judges addressed the students and encouraged them to keep up their passion for acting. They applauded the teachers and students for their genuine endeavours.

India Today

The much sought after talk of the nation is India of the day. The students of XII-E presented the assembly on the topic-‘India Today.’ During assembly, students covered the routine features like News, significance of the day, Words of vocabulary etc. Beyond that, they presented a dance performance based on Indian traditional classical dance form. A power point presentation on the development and growth of India was showcased. Students also presented a skit highlighting positive and negative aspects of India where they had put a thrust on emerging India as a superpower on the world front. A student posed as PM Modi who talked about the achievements of India and its untapped potential. They ended the assembly on a positive note of BRIGHT INDIA.

WORKSHOP ON CHILD PROTECTION POLICY & POCSO ACT

CHILD SAFETY IS OUR PRIME CONCERN: WORKSHOP ON CHILD PROTECTION POLICY & POCSO ACT  AT BLUE BELLS MODEL SCHOOL, SECTOR 4, GURGAON

When ensuring safety within schools a holistic approach is imperative to create an environment which looks at the multiple dimensions of vulnerability faced by the child, be it mental, emotional, cognitive, social, cultural, geographical or physical, keeping in mind the child's entire cycle of engagement with the educational environment and the system.

A safe school environment makes children's rights a reality, restores hope, eliminates bias, upholds dignity in the child's life and creates an enabling environment that supports a child's positive personality development. In sync with the same objective a Workshop was  organized for the teachers by The Resource Centre of The Health & Wellness Programme under the   inspiring  guidance of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy  Director  (Health  and Wellness), BBGS, on May 10, 2017 . The teachers were sensitized and made aware of the POCSO Act & Child Protection Policy devised for BBGS .

Children are innocent and trusting by nature and thus, they need to be protected against any  abuse . Therefore, the teachers play a pivotal role to protect them in the school if they do not become a prey to such acts. Ma’am elaborately explained about the  POCSO Act, adopted by India to safeguard children from sexual offense.  This is an Act to protect children from offences of sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornography and provide for establishment of Special Courts for trial of such offences and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Dr.Alka Saxena, gave a brief to everyone on Child Protection Policy statements to provide a clear picture to the teachers for ensuring students’ safety in the school. This policy is applicable to all employees and any person who comes in contact with the school system. Ma’am gave a detailed description on the vision and mission of the school as far as students’ safety  is concerned. She  also apprised the staff about the safety measures taken for transport and even when students move out for picnic or any outdoor activities and other areas. Ma’am also briefed on Online safety so that teachers could guide the students properly for internet security. She  also  outlined the parameters to be followed as  internet safety protocol and also updated everyone on  the roles and responsibilities of ‘Child Abuse Monitoring Committee’ and ‘Core Committee Members’ to make children feel safe and secured in the school premises. The whole objective of session was   to sensitize teachers so that  children can be protected from abuse and their safety can be ensured by providing  a safe learning environment. 

Rabindra Jayanti  Celebration

The students of class VII C presented a wonderful assembly to commemorate Rabindra Jayanti and Mother’s Day. The assembly began with a skit on “Mother’s Presence” wherein the students showcased the importance of mother in a family. It was followed by a speech on Rabindranath Tagore. The group song ‘Amra Shobai Raja’ mesmerized the audience and filled the hall with a festive fervor. A group dance on ‘Amra Nutan Jauboneri doot’ Rabindra Sangeet was also performed. The dancers attired in traditional sarees and kurta pyjamas enthralled the audience with their performance. Students also presented a dance showcasing their gratitude to their mothers. The Class Incharge Ms Mahuya Menon educated the students about Rabindranath Tagore. She pitched in the poetic expressions originally composed by the Great Poet – Rabindranath Tagore. The assembly came to an end with the motivational words by the Middle wing Incharge - Ms. Anshu Mallika Kumar who infused the spirit of love and devotion amongst the students for their mothers.
