Workshop for Teachers on Collective Responsibility Drive – Recycling

“If we care about the environment and how it will affect mankind, then recycling shouldn’t take a second thought.”

A workshop for teachers was conducted by Mr. Krishn Kumar Gaur, Vice President, Blue Planet Environmental Solutions India. The initiative ‘Blue Nudge’ provides a unique platform to the learners for becoming more responsible towards the earth. Their mission is to nudge 10 million youth and prevent 1 billion plastic waste from going to landfill. Mr. Krishn Kumar Gaur apprised the teachers about the drive that will help them motivate the students and participate in the Collective Responsibility Drive – Recycling.

BLUE BELLS MODEL SCHOOL CELEBRATES WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY, 2022

We, at Blue Bells Model School, strongly feel that if the foundation of values is strongly laid children are equipped with their life skills. In furtherance of the vision and to highlight the health risks associated with tobacco use and sensitize all about the ill effects of Tobacco, the Health & Wellness team organized a special assembly to celebrate ‘World No Tobacco Day’, in the school on May 31, 2022, under the inspirational leadership and guidance of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS.

A Special Morning Assembly moderated by the Health & Wellness Ambassador, and Peer Educators of class VII to X was organized for Middle and Senior Wing. The focus of the assembly was to create awareness among the students and teachers on the harmful effects caused due to use of tobacco products. Keya Gupta, class VII C, presented the video which she curated for the Inter-School Competition by the Indian Cancer Society on the current year’s theme of World No Tobacco Day 2022 ‘Tobacco:  Threat to our Environment.’ The students also presented a ‘Street Play’ on the same theme and showcased how the use of tobacco may give false sense of comfort from stress in the beginning but later becomes the cause of pain and misery. Ashutosh Raghav, the Health & Wellness Ambassador, BBMS presented facts related to harmful effects of tobacco and  requested all the members of the august gathering to take a Pledge to ‘Say No to Tobacco’. The Assembly closed on a promising note with a SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN which was given a befitting start by our mentor Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS. Thereafter, Ms. Alka Singh,the Principal, Ms. Anjali Nagpal, Senior Wing coordinator, Health & Wellness Team members, teachers and students created aesthetic and artistic doodling to create awareness on this core issue. The response to the endeavour was overwhelming and the motive of enlightening Gen Now took the shape of a reality. This will be one drop in the ocean to create, aware and empower adolescents. The efforts of the Health & Wellness team contributed to spreading awareness and developing the community of learners empowered to combat the global epidemic- against the use of tobacco.

Scouts and Guides Assembly

"We cannot always build the future for the youth, but we sure can build the youth for the future."

Blue Bells Model School organised an assembly for the middle wing to apprise them about the wonderful opportunity Hindustan Scouts and Guides is providing in the school.

Hindustan Scouts & Guides is the National Scouting & Guiding association of India, an organization that aims to contribute to the mental, physical, and spiritual development of youth to make them complete and perfect human beings through scouting/guiding.

Mr. Rahul Kumar, National Training Commissioner and Mr. Mangeram Chauhan, National Joint Training Commissioner addressed how as scouts/guides, the young boys/girls may undertake lots of activities relating to Community Development, Social-Service, Adventure Activities, Yoga, All faith Meditation, Environmental Conservation, Vocational skills, National Integration, Spirit of Patriotism, Brotherhood, Loyalty, Discipline and Leadership qualities and a lot of similar activities which enable young people to become good citizens.

The assembly turned out to be very engaging and the students were very eager to participate.

YOGA SESSION FOR MIDDLE WING

Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.

Participating in yoga and mindfulness activities at school helps relieve stress and anxiety in young children, improving their wellbeing and emotional health.

Keeping this thought in mind, a special yoga session was conducted in Blue Bells Model School Sector -4 Gurugram with great enthusiasm and vigour. The children assembled in the earmarked area so as to ensure that the practice session is conducted in the most conducive manner even for the novice participant. Ms Neetu, Yoga facilitator of the school laid stress on the chanting of Om. During the course of “Yogabhyas”, the Yoga teacher also narrated the usefulness of different “Asanas” as a precautionary measure, in curing many diseases and the usefulness of Yoga in the overall wellbeing of a human being.

Associated with the cognitive domains of students, the yoga instructor told that this is a powerful and potent meditation that can be done by almost anyone desiring personal transformation or seeking to contribute to achieving World Peace and Global Harmony.

AT BLUE BELLS MODEL SCHOOL, SECTOR 4, GURUGRAM

The soil is the great connector of life, the source, and the destination of all. It is the healer, restorer, and resurrector. Without proper care for it, we can have no community and life. It is the basis of sustenance of life for people across the globe as it helps in preserving the natural elements and nutrients along with restoring the water table. To sensitize students about the importance of conserving the precious resource, ‘Save Soil Movement ’ was conducted from May 18, 2022 to May 25, 2022, under the aegis of the Health & Wellness Programme, Blue Bells Group of Schools steered by Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS.

Mr. Rajiv Kohli, an alumnus of IIT Mumbai and IIM Bangalore, Ms. Paramjit Narang, one of the finest educators of India, Mrs. Lata Pathak, a social worker associated with many NGOs in Gurugram and working for the social upliftment of the society, conducted varied sessions, where students participated with enthusiasm. The session for the Primary Wing was conducted on May 18, 2022, and for the Middle and Senior Wing on May 25, 2022.

The students were briefed about the deterioration in the quality of soil and the importance of sustaining it for the future generation. They were also apprised about the ‘Save Soil Movement’ launched by Isha foundation. Save Soil Movement is a Global Movement to initiate a conscious approach to soil and planet. The movement seeks governments’ attention of all nations that their citizens want a policy to revitalize soil and ecology, weaving the world in one thread to address the issue of soil crisis, its health, and actions towards increasing the organic content in cultivable soil.

The students were urged to raise the bar of awareness by sending their letters to the Honourable Prime Minister of India and requesting him to take the necessary steps to address the issue in a constructive manner.

The students shared their understanding of the problem and joined hands to ardently contribute to the cause at the close of the thought-provoking session. The students of all the Wings wrote letters to the honourable Prime Minister of India to share their concerns and request to save soil. The letters written by them were handed over to the representatives of the ‘Save Soil’ organization. They were rewarded with badges for the same.

Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director ( Health & Wellness), BBGS applauded the members of Isha Foundation and Save Soil Movement for their efforts and for giving an opportunity to the young brigade of the school to vehemently voice their opinion and contribute to the cause. She further reiterated the importance of healthy soil and encouraged the students to participate in the cause wholeheartedly.

WELCOME ASSEMBLY CLASS XI

Standing firmly in an era of global transformation, Blue Bells Model School, Sector -04 Gurugram is a dynamic and inspirational center that would help students to equip them with skills and knowledge to compete against the 21^st-century world. To provide a comprehensive environment that stimulates the multi-dimensional development of each child, a special welcome assembly was organized for Class XI students on 01 June 2022 in the JD Hall. The morning assembly began on a pious note with the prayer followed by a motivation song by the school choir. Mr Santosh Thapliyal, Discipline In-Charge briefed children about various rules and regulations which are to be religiously followed in the school. He also briefed them that the school is known for discipline and inclusive ethos where we set high standards and expectations for our students to achieve and behave their very best. The Principal, Ms Alka Singh expressed that every girl and boy can experience success and go on to graduate as a responsible, resilient and confident young adult, well prepared to take charge of their future and become a productive member of the community.

YOGA: ROOF ABOVE, EARTH BELOW, PEACE WITHIN…

The word Yoga is not only a part of life. It is the breath of life. Blue Bells Model School, Sector -04 Gurugram celebrated the spirit of happiness through Family Yoga Day on 28 May 2022 in the school premises under the guidance of the Physical Education Department of the school. With the pandemic having given a lot of challenges to mankind, Yoga and meditation remain the best medicine to treat our body and mind. The parents and children assembled in the earmarked area so as to ensure that the session is conducted in the most conducive manner even for the novice participant. The systematic practice of different ‘ASANAS” of standing, sitting and laying positions and smoothly changing in succession was done under the instructions of Yoga teacher. During the course of “Yogabhyas”, the Yoga teacher also narrated the usefulness of different “Asanas” as a precautionary measure, in curing many diseases and the usefulness of Yoga in the overall wellbeing of a human being. The parents and children took an oath that they will continue to practice Yoga at home for keeping their bodies and mind in healthy, stress-free and cheerful conditions.

‘Staying fit’ is the mantra practiced by every Blue Bellian. The parents who are our co-partners in the mission to provide holistic education to the futuristic citizens of the nation were all geared up for the day. A school-home partnership should address the particular needs of a community and provide the appropriate support that students need to succeed. The joy of doing Yoga with the family was a good feeling altogether and the aura of positivity and smile was seen on their faces.

Parliamentary Mock Session of BBMUN 2022

Parliamentary Mock Session of BBMUN 2022 on Sedition laws and the Freedom of the press in India.

“The beginning is the most important part of any work.”

Blue Bells Model School conducted an in-house Mock Parliamentary Session on May 26, 2022 for the students of classes IX to provide them with a platform to opine and deliberate upon the most pressing issues that the country is facing. 165 students from Class IX were simulated under different portfolios adjudicated by our Alumni who have started their journey in the transforming world. The event created a perfect platform for Gen Z to ponder upon national affairs and reach a consensus on a bigger frame. The deliberations amongst the delegates paved the way for developing these young learners’ debating and diplomacy skills. The session had a considerable number of first-timers whose performance was commendable. The school indeed received a resounding positive reaction which was highly applauded by the management and teaching fraternity.

ORIENTATION SESSION

Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.

It has rightly been said that the guidance of the parents, as well as the school, can perfectly support a child in the most crucial life-changing years of school. It is then imperative that these two pillars meet and understand what’s best for their wards. In pursuit of the same, an Orientation Session was organized by Blue Bells Model School, Sector -04, Gurugram on 27 May 2022 for the students of Classes XI and XII to assist them in providing a broader perspective of Central Universities-Common Entrance Test and optional subjects. The students were explained and shared valuable insight pertaining to CUCET examination eligibility which included an elaborate discussion on syllabus, date, and notification. There was a clear updation on how to apply and enroll for CUCET. The school faculty provided a deep insight into their optional subjects so that the students prepare for a successful career with a clear vision of what lies ahead.

Ms Alka Singh, Principal enumerated the role of schools in deciding the right career path for the children that is in tune with their skills and job experiences. The queries of the students were taken up and were clarified in a very engaging Question and Answer session. The session was indeed an enriching and informative learning experience for all the young aspirants of the school.

Astronomy Club Orientation Session

An Astronomy Club Orientation Session was conducted in JD hall for Primary classes on May 11, 2022 Wednesday. The session started with the interactive Q/A session wherein the resource person asked questions to check the knowledge of the students about space. After this, the students were briefed about the importance of Astronomy in our daily life. A short video on importance of Astronomy was shown to the students. Then the resource person shared the schedule of the activities to be taken up during the Astronomy Club sessions. The attraction of the orientation session was the live demonstration of Comet Making and Rocket Launching activity. The session was concluded by taking the queries of the students.

It was an interesting and informative session. Students had a lovely time gathering knowledge on Astronomy.
