OUTDOOR EXCURSION TO MANGOLI : EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING IN THE LAP OF NATURE

“Reading about nature is fine, but if a person walks in the woods and listens carefully, he can learn more than what is in books, for they speak with the voice of God.”

A trip to Mangoli, Pahadi Vibes, organized by Blue Bells Model School for the students of classes VI – VII from December1 to December 3, 2019 with an idea to create a unique combination of fun and learning. It was a successful attempt to sensitize Blue Bellians towards nature and to re-create their accord with the cosmos. The scintillating beauty of the camp, the melodious sound of the chirping birds, and relaxing natural tents left the students speechless. All were astonished by the serene sunrise and sunset view in the laps of mountain and also enjoyed trekking while appreciating the scenic natural beauty. Students enjoyed various low rope adventure activities followed by Abseiling, Valley traverse and Tree Jumaring. They were apprised about safety rules to be followed. Team building games and activities like Magi Making Competition and Bone Fire dance with Music and Lights  added to their delight . To enhance their understanding, a discussion was initiated highlighting the importance of keeping the environment clean and green. The students gave strokes to their experience as well as expressed the same in their own words. They enjoyed amongst themselves, shared and relished the snacks and sumptuous meal, and had a great time together. Overall, the trip was an opportunity for the students to know more about their surroundings and importance of nature.  The trip was  a riveting experience for everyone.

Testing ourselves over and again-----“

To create awareness among the students about the pristine beauty of Nature and to arouse in them the spirit of enquiry and adventure, a three-day long adventure camp was organized to Sursinghdhar, a picturesque place in the lap of Nature, on the foothills of the Himalayan Range from December 1 to December 3, 2019. Thirty five  students accompanied by three  teachers embarked on this exciting excursion.  The journey to  Haridwar and further to Sursinghdhar  left an indelible imprint in the heart of the members to be cherished forever . The scenic and picturesque beauty of the place captivated the tour members enroute on this remarkable sojourn.

The students were actively involved in myriad fascinating activities like Rappelling, Tree Zumari , Zip lining/ flying fox and Mountain Climbing. They felt exhilarated by participating in various team-building activities in the evening involving a unique blending of both physical courage and mental stamina. The exceptional beauty ,  the refreshing and virgin appeal of the place registered a venerable place in the memories of all . Finally the tour members returned to school at around midnight, rejuvenated and re-vitalized, at the end of an invigorating and memorable experience.

‘‘LA FÊTE DE LA LANGUE’--A FESTIVAL OF LANGUAGES

‘You live a new life for every language you speak.’

It is rightly said that knowledge of languages is a doorway to wisdom. A different language is a different vision of life which contributes in transcending barriers and strengthening emotional bindings across humanity. In an effort to celebrate the grandeur of languages and appreciate them in their varied moods and genres, Blue Bells Model School organized ‘La Fete De La Langue’-A Festival of Languages on November 29 & 30, 2019 under the aegis of GPSC. The event was an earnest effort to expand horizons and comprehend the galore of languages. Ms. Soumya Gulati, Deputy Director, Academic Development and Innovation BBGS, graced the occasion as the chief guest.The two-day mega event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp with the accompaniment of shloka recital and a prayer ensembleof all the religions. The Principal of the school accorded a warm welcome to the august gathering emphasizing the key role that language plays in one’s life. An energetic and vibrant rap on A-Z of words kindled a beaming spark to the grand celebration. Ms. Soumya Gulati declared the event openin the midst of talented and over enthusiastic contestants.

Day one witnessed the ardent competitors from 20 prestigious schools from across Gurugram passionately participating in events like Shravan &Chitrankan, NitiShatak Shloka Gayan, Grammothon- Grammar Relay Race and Trans Occidentales- East Meets West. Students from grades III to VI from the various schools showcased their multifaceted prowess in the events and earned a huge applause from the spectators.

Day 2 unfolded a different chapter for language fans who fervently participated in a myriad of competitions like Les Jingles Publicitaires Advertisement with Jingle Making, Lingua Arte’ Self Composed Poetry with Illustration, Dram-E-Tale Theatrical Presentation on Short Stories, Chaupiyan Enactment from Ramcharitmanas, , Contra Opinion, Blog Writing, Unleash the Flash’ : On The Spot Theme Photography and Click -A -Story ( Story Board). Students from all the schools wholeheartedly took part in all the events and astounded the jury members through their multidimensional expertise in all the fields.

Mr. Deepak Vohra, the special adviser to the Prime Minister of India, Lesotho and Guinea-Bissau was the Chief Guest for the valedictory ceremony. A dance drama presentation on ‘Origin Of Languages’wrapped the gala event and set the mood of the achievers to get felicitated by the Chief Guest.The kaleidoscopic glimpses of the various venues were mirrored through a Power Point Presentation. The Overall Trophy was won by Blue Bells Public School Sec-10 Gurugram .Mr. Deepak Vohra addressed the students and initiated a spark of being proud as an Indian . The moment of the Closing –cum - Valedictory Ceremony became momentous when Mr. Ashish Gulati, Vice Chairman , Blue Bells Group of School blessed all with his radiant presence. ‘LA FÊTE DE LA LANGUE’-A Festival Of Languages set the ball rolling .

The National Integration Day is celebrated on 19^th November to mark the birth anniversary of first female Prime Minister of India Smt. Indira Gandhi. A special assembly was conducted in the Primary Wing by class III B to mark National Integration Day on November 25, 2019. The students of class III B presented a talk on the life of Smt. Indira Gandhi. They also presented a mesmerizing folk dance spreading the message of Unity. The assembly was appreciated by all who attended it.

We at Blue Bells believe in empowering our students about varied new wave career options and also apprise them about reputed institutions both within the country and abroad so that they make right choices as they move ahead in life.  In sync with the same objective a session for classes XI and XII on International studies was conducted on November 22 , 2019 as a part of the Health & Wellness Programme under the patronage of Dr.AlkaSaxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS.  The session was conducted by Dr. Erwin Oh. , Director International and Faculty of Graffith University, Australia. Theeminent resource person was accorded a warm welcome by Anshita Raghav, the Health & Wellness Ambassador & Shagun Jain, the Peer Educator.

Ms. Elisabeth Findlay, Associate Professor ,  Director (International) for the Arts, Education and Law Group at Griffith University, Dr Michelle Bissett , an occupational therapist in Australia and the United Kingdom and Dr Kuldeep Sandhu ,  a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Business Strategy and Innovation presented an informative session on stream selection, effective career planning and career optionsavailable worldwide. They spoke on common myths regarding career and elaborately discussed untrodden careers in vivid fields which can prove to be rewarding in the future.

 The main motive of this session was to help students understand the various career options available.  The session concluded with an ‘open house’ where the students’ queries were effectively addressed.  The session gave a strong impetus to students aspiring to study abroad.

SUBJECT ENRICHMENT WORKSHOP FOR THE STUDENTS OF COMMERCE

 A Subject Enrichment Workshop in Economics, Business Studies and Accountancy was organized by Blue Bells Model School for the students of Commerce stream on November 21, 2019. The eminent Resource Person for the workshop was Mr. Subhash Dey, a living legend and renowned author of 22 subjects in varied fields of study.

Discussion started with the CBSE sample papers of Economics and Accountancy. Sir also threw light on expected questions for 2019-20 Board examination. Each concept was taken in detail and various aspects regarding the same were discussed. He suggested Time Plan while taking exams based on the weightage of marks. He advised the students to remain away from distractions created by mobile phones, cinemas and social media.

He insisted on self-study by the students and making notes having key words and time lines. He also discussed the multiple ways of asking the same question in board examination. He advised the students to make an achievable but strict time table for achieving better score. Taking good care of health by taking healthy and nutritious food was also stressed by him.

Important notes, question bank of the three subjects and their solutions, objective type questions were shared. It was a very interesting and interactive session which was closed by the query handling session. Apart from subject knowledge, the main take away for the participants were humanity, selfless service, love for each child and making the subject interesting.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING – INDUSTRIAL VISIT BY THE STUDENTS

Industrial visit enhances the learning curve of a student and is an important part of the School curriculum as theoretical knowledge coupled with practical learning paves way for a glorious future. With an aim to go beyond academics, industrial visit provides student a practical perspective on the world of work, in sync with the same to equip the students with real working of a fashion unit , a group of students from Fashion Studies visited   the Cotton Crafters Factory, ITM Manesar, which manufactured finished goods such as handbags, duffle bags, and backpacks on November 18, 2019 .

The school team was addressed by Mr. Shailesh Mital, President, Cotton Crafters.  They were taken on  a detailed tour of the premises along with explanation of each procedure to convert the raw material into a bag. A brief was given on the Security Systems along with the Emergency Fire Insulation Department. All the queries of the students were answered aptly. The students were impressed by the functioning and planning of things in the unit wherein efficient merging of Human Resource Department along with their Department for Corporate Social Responsibility was the highlight. Mr. Mital told the school team about how he got an idea of assigning special designation amongst the staff itself to act under emergency situations and ensure everybody’s safety. It was a unique learning experience for the school team.

150 BIRTH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF MAHATMA GANDHI

BLUE BELLIANS PARTICIPATED IN THE JOINT CULTURAL PROGRAMME ON INDIA BOLIVIA TOWARDS PEACE AND NON VIOLENCE ON 150 BIRTH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF MAHATMA GANDHI

Cultivation of culture is the essence of learning at Blue Bells Model School, Sector 4 , Gurugram. Each and every endeavour of the school is focused to tickle the fecund imagination of the students and add value to their learning. In sync with the same vision , Blue Bellians participated in the Cultural Programme by Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti along with the Bolivian Embassy to India on November 13, 2019. They had the privilege to be addressed by His Excellency, The Bolivian Ambassador to India, Mr. Juan Cortaz Rojas, and former Minister of Indigenous People’s Affairs, Mr. Ricardo Calla. A discussion on the Gandhian Ideologies and his methods of Non- Violence and Truthfulness was the highlight of the Programme. Madam Jenny Cardenas and her Musical Troupe which were the Capihuaras form Bolivia enthralled all with the melodious performance as they paid tribute to the Father of the Nation. Ma’am shared her past experiences of war, the country Bolivia fought with their neighboring country Paraguay and also expressed her deepest concern over Non- Violence in modern times and how the two countries settle to the foundation of their relations standing upon peace and brotherhood. The experience was gratifying as the students shared ideas and gained an insight on how they can work towards world peace.

GURUPURAB CELEBRATION

 “Enlighten your Heart and Soul with the Spiritual Belief of Waheguru,

It will guide you to the Right Path and bring Peace and Solitude.”

A Special Assembly was conducted by the students of Class III A  to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti and National Day of Unity- birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel on November 11, 2019.

The Primary Wing choir rendered “Shabad Gaan” adding to the serenity of the occasion. To apprise the students about the preachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji a Talk Show was presented by the students. They also displayed placards carrying forward the message of unity and peace. Baltej Singh of IV D mesmerized all with Shabad Gaan in his soulful voice.

All took a pledge of Unity and Integrity of the country. Students shared their food uplifting the spirit of sharing and caring.

40th FOUNDER’S DAY CELEBRATION

Blue Bellians celebrated 40 Years of their school’s glorious journey

‘Human contribution to the society is an essential ingredient as it is only in the giving of oneself to others that we truly live.’

In the history of Blue Bells Model School November 10 is marked as a golden day as it was on this day that the foundation of an exemplary institution was laid. The school commemorated 40 years of its spectacular journey on November 8, 2019. The day’s celebration was a memorable voyage for the school management, students and staff to retrace the school’s promising beginning and the dream that has powered the school to its present stature. A special assembly was organized to celebrate the auspicious occasion through a gamut of activities. Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, the Director BBGS graced the occasion by her benign presence. The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

 To make the day really worth cherishing the school Alumni were specially invited on the occasion who universally proclaimed that they owe their education to their mentors. The talented ex-students who have made a mark in diverse professional fields shared their vision regarding the future panorama of the school in the Panel Discussion ‘The Vision of the School in 2023’. The discussion on future strategies, policies and financial planning of the school was indeed an uplifted vision of this magnificent institution. Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati addressed the gathering and wished the school to grow in the field of knowledge, culture and education.

A myriad of activities were planned to contribute towards an all-round development of the young Blue Bellians. The zealous students showcased their innate acumen in several competitions. In ‘Inter-house Rangoli Competition’ with the theme ‘Resurgence, Growth and My Vision for my School’, ‘Inter-house Flower Arrangement Competition’ and ‘Cover Page Designing for the School Almanac and Magazine’, the students put forth their unique innovative skills which was highly admirable. Online Quiz which unfolded questions on the theme ‘How Well You Know Your School’ witnessed students’ exuberance in attempting the questionnaire.

The teachers of the school shared their memories and expressed heartfelt feelings of their long association with the institution through beautiful poem recitation and dance rendition. A movie on the glorious journey of 40 years took everyone down the memory lane where each and every milestone that the school achieved was dexterously portrayed. On this pious occasion the school also took the initiative to provide basic need items for the inmates of ‘Old Age Home’ Sec-4, Gurugram. This humanitarian gesture from the school side indeed instilled the value of love and care amongst the students.

The celebration of this four decade journey undeniably gave the assurance that the esteemed institution has carved a niche in the realm of education and promises to serve the society by offering confident, benevolent, honest, humane and well educated citizens to the nation.
