CYBERMAZE 2019: AN INTRA SCHOOL IT FEST

Technological advancements in the world have been possible due to innovative thinking, original concepts, original ideas and a broad vision. The school organized CyberMaze 2019, an Intra School IT Fest from November 6 & November 7, 2019 , to provide a unique learning platform to the students to hone their tech skills. The competition was a beehive of science and technological activity where the objective was to cultivate the creative spirit, practical ability and encourage outstanding talent among students.

The Opening Ceremony held on November 6, 2019 was graced by the benign presence of Ms. Anshuka Aneja, Deputy Director IT , BBGS . Mrs. Alka Singh , Principal accorded a formal welcome to the august audience . Madam Anshuka declared the event open for the tech enthusiasts of the school.

A plethora of activities were organized for classes III to XI. The Preliminary Round for the events was conducted a week prior and Finals of the events were there on November 6, 2019. Class III competed in Doodling on MS Paint , Class IV made a presentation on MS-PowerPoint, Class V made a Poster Designing on MS Word, Class VI created a Story on Scratch, Class VII used the software Movie Maker to compose a Movie, Class VIII created an Advertisement using Photoshop , Class IX made a Movie using Sony Vegas Pro/Premoier Pro/After Effects / Filmora , Class X worked on Website using HTML/CSS/Java Script and Class XI invented MIT App Inventor along with Robotics for Classes III to X.

The Closing Ceremony of the Mega IT Fest on November 8, 2019 , was adorned with the illustrious presence of  Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, revered Director, Madam Anshuka Aneja, Deputy Director –IT, BBGS and Mr. Rakshit Tandon, Advisor, Cyber Crime Cell , Moradabad , Up & Haryana Police Academy. Mr. Tandon graciously agreed to be the Chief Guest for the occasion. Sir is also an eminent member of Gurgaon Police Safe Surfing Campaign and took two sessions with the students of classes IV to VII and VIII, IX &  XI to guide them on Cyber Safety Issues and concerns. The students presented a well orchestrated programme with a perfect amalgamation of Skit, dance and Reminiscence- a kaleidoscopic view of CyberMaze 2019. The achievers of various IT Competitions were felicitated by Mr. Rakshit Tandon and Ms. Anshuka Aneja, Deputy  Director IT , BBGS.

Mr. Rakshit Tandon congratulated the students for a wonderful show and presentation. He asked the students to be Tech Savvy rather than Tech Slaves. Blue Bellians made their alma mater proud by being open to experimentation and challenges to reach higher goals set.

The creativity and skills of the participants were adjudged by eminent Computer Faculty members of the Blue Bells Family.

INTERNATIONAL ROBOTICS CHALLENGE SCHOOL LEAGUE

BLUE BELLS MODEL SCHOOL HOSTED GURUGRAM QUALIFIER OF INTERNATIONAL ROBOTICS CHALLENGE SCHOOL LEAGUE

‘Technology promises mankind to become the master of the world.’

Blue Bells Model School believes in providing opportunities and platform to young learners to explore the unknown, innovate and excel in their targeted field. The Gurugram Qualifier of the 10th Season of IRC School League kicked off on November 2, 2019 with a big bang at the school with a clear objective to search the best of talent at the school level to solve social problems with the help of modern technology. The day was adorned by the illustrious presence of Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, Director , BBGS , Madam Anshuka Aneja , Deputy Director-IT, BBGS and dignitaries from Avishkar Box .

IRC is the Asia’s biggest Robotics Competition organized by Avishkaar. 70 Teams from renowned schools from Delhi & Gurugram participated in the mega event and showcased their problem solving and designing skills around the theme Bot Olympics. The teams participated across three levels – Junior, Middle and Senior. The teams got 2 to 6 minutes to run their robots and scored the maximum  points .

The winners in the qualifiers to school level will represent their challenge in the Grand National Finale at the Thyagaraj Stadium, Delhi in December.

The mammoth confederation indeed proved the fact that if young aspirants are encouraged, they can think out of the box and come up with unique ideas to solve problems. The competition undoubtedly witnessed the commendable creativity of the participants in designing robots and their mechanized activities.

 Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, Director, Blue Bells Group of Schools wholeheartedly appreciated the efforts of the tech Geeks and felicitated the achievers and wished them success in their future endeavours.

RASHTRIYA EKTA DIWAS

BLUE BELLS MODEL SCHOOL CELEBRATED RASHTRIYA EKTA DIWAS TO COMMEMORATE THE BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF SARDAR VALLABH BHAI PATEL

 India is a secular country with diversified cultures and the significances in their own kind. As an endeavour to solidify the bond of oneness and unification, the country celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel on October 31, 2019  as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day). In line with the celebrations countrywide, Blue Bells Model School following the CBSE mandate organized various activities in the school premises in order to extend their heartfelt appreciation about the life and the involvement of the great leader, Sardar Patel, in the veritable contribution during the freedom struggle and to lay a foundation of a unified country fused with oneness. The idea was to inculcate in the young future generation the  values integrated with the knowledge and adoration about the country’s rich heritage.

A throng of activities were organized all through the day to support the cause of promoting unity and celebrating “National Unity Day” in the school premises. Activities involved collaborative effort to convey the message of importance of unity in sustaining any work. The occasion provided with an opportunity to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats .

The Programme commenced with a pledge that was administered by  of the school which was an affirmation of the commitment taken by the young Indians to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation. The major focus was on ‘RUN FOR UNITY’ , race to spread awareness among the students on role of Sardar Patel in unifying the country as he was the statesman of integrity with practical acumen and resolved to accomplish a monumental task of keeping 562 princely states united to give a definite shape to future India. The students were involved in various activities like March Past , Run For Unity , Essay & Debate. The event conveyed the message of Unity, Safety and Security to all and the students carried across the unifying message to act as Unity, Safety, and Security Ambassadors.

SENSITIZING STUDENTS ON SAFETY: WORKSHOP ON SAFE TOUCH

With a vision to sensitize and aware the young Blue Bellians about their personal safety, sessions on Safe Touch were planned and prepared  by the Health & Wellness Resource Center Team under the mentorship of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director( Health & Wellness), BBGS.   These sessions were taken with the students of Classes III  to VIII in different time slots by the members of Health & Wellness Team in the month of September 2019 to help them understand personal safety and ways to keep themselves safe.  

The focus of the session was to make students aware about the personal zones of their bodies for their safety. Difference between safe & unsafe touch, adopting safety measures like- ‘Say No’, ‘Scream’, ‘Run for Help’ & and ‘Tell’ a trusted adult (Like, Parents, Teachers & Counsellors) were also shared with them. . To help the students understand the concept, an effective discussion on ‘Stranger Safety’ was undertaken, wherein students shared their concerns and views. The session was summarized by showing age appropriate videos to students on safety, suggested by the CBSE and the Gurgaon Police.

The students found the workshop to be informative and  felt that they were better equipped now to face these challenges.

Deepawali Celebrations

The celebration of Deepavali- 'The festival of lights' came alive at the Primary Wing of Blue Bells Public School, Gurgaon on October 24, 2019 with the Special Assembly conducted by Class IV D.

The assembly commenced with a melodious rendition. The students presented a skit “Spread The Light of Change” sensitizing all about the ill-effects of crackers. They shared information about the ill effects of bursting crackers on Human Beings, Animals and Nature and ways to celebrate Eco Friendly Diwali .

To carry the message of Green Diwali forward, a creative endeavour –Diya Decoration was conducted . The students adorned their classrooms and homes with a creative outlay of Ethnic Diyas and Candles.

October 11 has been marked as the International Day of the Girl by UNO. The day aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls' face, while promoting girls' empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights.

There is a need to uphold the equal rights, voices and influence of girls in our families, communities and nations. Girls can be powerful agents of change, and nothing should keep them from participating fully in all areas of life. To honour girls an Inter-House Street Play Competition “Strong Girls = Strong World” was held in the Primary Wing on October 23, 2019. The performances by all the four Houses were power packed and conveyed a strong message on gender equality .

First Position was bagged by Mother Teresa House , Tagore House bagged Runner’s Up Position and there was a tie for Second Runner’s Up Position shared by Indira Gandhi House and Nehru House . The panel of judges appreciated the dramatic skills, scripting and clarity of message by all the teams.

Blue Bells Model School firmly believes that the supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity and without it, no real success is possible. The NCC motto ‘Unity and Discipline’ has been laid out in the school with the aim to inculcate the values of discipline, comradeship, character building, confidence and spirit of selfless service amongst the school cadets. The momentous event was also attended by three hundred cadets from across Gurugram schools and colleges. To honour the school NCC Battalion and further acquaint the young cadets about the future ventures of NCC, Brig. Vijay Mehta, SM, Group Commander, Rohtak paid a visit to the school on 22^nd October 2019.Brig. Vijay Mehta, SM, and Ajay Kumar Commanding officer 5Haryana Bn. NCC, Gurugram were accorded a warm welcome by the Principal of the school. The august gathering witnessed a cultural programme showcased by the students of the school. Molly Sharma  recited a Hindi self-composed poem  ‘Khabar’ and Avni presented an English self-composed poem ‘Why in a World like Ours’ highlighting their profound love for their nation. Brig. Vijay Mehta addressed the NCR cadets by stating the benefits of NCC in schools and colleges. He further outlined that more students should get enrolled in NCC and make necessary developments to make NCC a transparent, inspiring and strong programme. He also apprised the cadets about various policies of NCC and SSB interviews. The visit of the NCC officials to the school was an encouraging experience for all the NCC aspirants.

CAREER  CONFLUENCE

In sync with the same objective and to apprise the students and parents of the wide spectrum of career choices available, the school organizes Career Confluence every year under the aegis of The Health & Wellness Programme mentored by Dr. Alka Saxena

Choices & Stream Selection was conducted on October 18, 2019. The Confluence was a platform which provided an opportunity to listen to learned stalwarts in the field of career counselling. Anshita Raghav, the Health & Wellness Ambassador & Khushi Jai n, the Peer Mentor welcomed Ms. Gagandeep Kaur, Director, Unique Psychological Services. The learned visionary dreams of an education system that will cater to all and believes that affordable options are there for everybody. She acquainted the students with a myriad of emerging careers i n science, commerce and humanities. The students were also updated about New Age Career options like Vocational Careers, Skill Based Careers, and Career beyond and across different Streams along with the plethora of courses and institutions available. She also gave a detailed account of the unusual and unconventional careers that students could explore and opt for, in accordance to their aptitude, interest, skills, passion and personality.

The workshop organized for the parents of students from classes IX to XII on 19th October,' 19 was an edifying session for them. Ms. Gagandeep Kaur presented an informative session on stream selection,

effective career planning and career options. She spoke on common myths regarding career and elaborately discussed on untrodden careers in vivid fields which can prove to be rewarding in the future. The main motive of this session was to help them understand the various career options available so that they can help their ward choose an option. The last part of the session was an OPEN HOUSE where the parents were

apprised of the new avenues and they were satisfied with the appropriate information of the options

available in this global scenario. The interactive session helped clarify several concerns regarding career as well as reiterated the requirement for parental support in making the right choice. The session was awakening and informative, where students' and parents' queries were answered satisfactorily.

The parents and students were also informed about the career counselling committee headed by Ms. Chhavi Thakur. The Confluence certainly achieved its objective with an overwhelming participation of students as well as parents.

At Blue Bells, it is our firm belief that when we  share our time, skills, knowledge, wisdom, compassion, wealth and love—the world would be a more peaceful and healthier place.  In sync with this vision  and to sensitize our students  about the joy of giving, the school, under the aegis of Health and Wellness Programme has undertaken a social initiative to  promote the sense of sharing and caring with the  underprivileged children of Diksha School ,a non-profit school in Palam Vihar, Gurugram. This endeavour marked the celebration of Metamorphosis –Health & Wellness Fiesta ( 2019-20)  on the theme – ‘Joy of Giving’ wherein the students  expressed their affection and took a step towards bonding.

The event was ideated and mentored by Dr. Alka Saxena , Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS . The event aimed at   instilling values such as empathy, sensitivity and sharing  in the students. The school team organized a special cultural presentation for the visiting team of students along with Sports and Skill enhancement activities as a gesture to share our love and togetherness with the visiting team .  The students and teachers volunteered to present token of their love and  joy to the members from Diksha School.  

 It was an enriching experience for all .

CYBER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN : A COMMITED INITIATIVE OF

BLUE BELLS MODEL SCHOOL FOR A CYBER SAFE SOCIETY

Education today is undergoing a metamorphosis which has laid emphasis on getting children to interact and engage with intelligent machines and systems. This paradigm shift will empower in transforming young lives with the right amalgamation of technology and challenges.

Digital India as envisioned  by Honourable Prime Minister is a new wave initiative  to transform India into a knowledge based and digitally empowered  society. Technology is a beautiful gift of intellectual minds to this world, and it is on us how to use it or misuse it. With Cybercrime  on the rise and frauds and identity theft widespread, there is an urgent need to empower the young generation with Netiquettes . With the mission to sensitize the Blue Bellians on Internet Code of Conduct, the Cyber Safety Committee of the school under the mentorship of Madam Anshuka Aneja , Deputy Director –IT, BBGS  organized  Cyber Awareness Campaign from September 12 to September 23, 2019 .

Special Assembly was conducted for Middle Wing on September 12, 2019 , Senior Wing on September 14, 2019 and Primary Wing on October 14, 2019 respectively by the Cyber Committee members  to sensitize the students on Cyber Safety and Netiquettes. Age appropriate activities were designed for optimum impact like games related to Cyber Awareness for Classes III to V , Power Point Presentation , Movie Making and Web Page on Cyber Security for  Classes  VI to VIII and a Panel Discussion for Classes IX to XII.

The students were briefed about E-Commerce with a special emphasis laid on Cyber Laws, Threats posed like Hactivism- typically using social media platforms to bring to light social issues which can also include flooding an email address with so much traffic that it temporarily shuts down,  Wi-Fi Eavesdropping - one of the easiest ways in E-commerce to steal personal data which can happen on the public as well as on personal computers, Spoofing and Phishing- a type of social engineering attack often used to steal user data, including login credentials and credit card numbers , were explained at length. Preventive measures were suggested to all along with the detailed description of Cyber Laws. To reinforce the learning of the shared concepts, last part of the presentations was the Quiz Round in which the students enthusiastically participated .
