We the inhabitants of this beautiful planet should lit up the lamp of cleanliness to spread the light of godliness. Cleanliness gives rise to a good character by keeping body, mind, and soul clean and peaceful. Maintaining cleanliness is the essential part of healthy living. To keep this noble objective a prime concern in everyone’s life, Blue Bells Model School, Gurugram organized FIT INDIA Plog Run on  October 3, 2019. The enthusiastic students of the school participated in the Plog Run, an initiative taken by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Swacch Bharat Abhiyan. The students picked up plastic stuffs like bags, bottles, cans etc. while jogging around the Sector 4 Market Area, Gurugram. Along the path of the run when collecting plastic garbage the students set an example for every passer-by to ponder upon hygiene and sanitation. Through this activity the young learners paid a befitting tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhiji on his 150^th birth anniversary.

 Every year on 2 October, the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation , Mahatma Gandhi is observed with prayer services and tributes across the nation. This year, India  celebrated the 150th Birth Anniversary of Gandhi ji on theme – World with Non-violence . The event was organized by Ministry of Culture , Government of India at Gandhi Smriti , Rajghat on October 2, 2019 as a tribute to this iconic and inspiring personality who with his single minded devotion paved way for India’s freedom.

It was a proud moment for the Blue Bells Family when  Blue Bells Model School was shortlisted to be a part of the prestigious melodious presentations on the occasion which saw the presence of President of India , Mr. Ram Nath Kovind  ,  Ministers of the Central Cabinet and state, Delegates from various Embassies of different countries , Secretary General of United Nations and Padma Shree Pandit Ajay Chakraborty   paying their heartfelt tribute to this great Indian patriarchal figure . The students from only 36 schools all over India were given this opportunity to be the ambassadors of peace . They offered a musical tribute to Mahatma Gandhi through songs of Kabir Acharya Vinoba Bhave , compositions by Dr. Bhupen Hazarika , songs of peace and harmony and above all conveyed a message of  imbibing humanity in all of us.

The students learnt coordination and compassion while working and rehearsing with the students of other schools along with inculcating time management and discipline while performing in front of the august audience.

 ‘CAREER OPTIONS-STUDYING ABROAD’

We at Blue Bells believe in empowering our students about varied new wave carreer options and also apprise them about reputed institutions both within the country and abroad so that they make right choices as they move ahead in life.  In sync with the same objective a session for classes XI and XII on International studies was conducted on Oct1, 2019 as a part of the Health & Wellness Programme under the patronage of Dr.Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS.  The session was conducted by. Mr.Reetu raj Goswami, the International Education speaker from IIFM Pratham. The eminent resource person was accorded a warm welcome by Anshita Raghav, the Health & Wellness Ambassador &Khushi Jain, the Peer Mentor.

 Mr.Goswami presented an informative session on stream selection, effective career planning and career options available worldwide. He spoke on common myths regarding career and elaborately discussed untrodden careers in vivid fields which can prove to be rewarding in the future. The main motive of this session was to help students understand the various career options available.  The session concluded with an ‘open house’ where the students’ queries were effectively addressed

 The session gave a strong impetus to students aspiring to study abroad.

Gandhi –Shashtri  Jayanti Celebration

Gandhi- Shashtri  Jayanti is celebrated by the nation to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi Ji and Sh. Lal Bahadur Shashtri on October 2. The Primary Wing of our School paid homage to the noble souls with a special assembly by class IV C on September 30, 2019.

The students presented a talk based on anecdotes from Gandhiji’s and Shashtriji’s life, how their principles guided the country towards becoming an independent nation. The students also presented a skit aiming at Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and the power of unity and discipline to forge ahead in life encouraging all to think about the values of freedom and also to keep the country clean.

 The assembly concluded with a special rendition to pay reverence to the leaders   of the nation.

BLUE BELLS  MODEL SCHOOL, SECTOR 4 , GURUGRAM  HOSTED ITS FIRST  MODEL UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE ON ‘BLUE BELLS FOR WORLD PEACE ‘

BBMUN 2019 witnessed  the participation of over 500 delegates from  Delhi & NCR  in 9 unique committee simulations based around a central theme of ‘Blue Bells For World Peace ‘.The young leaders stepped into the shoes of global delegates and diplomats.

The Opening Ceremony on September 28, 2019 was embellished with the illustrious presence of Dr. Sunil Dabas , India’s First ever & only woman who received both Dronacharya Award and Padma Shri from the Hon’ble President of India and Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati , esteemed Director , BBGS. The Principal of the school accorded a warm welcome to all . The expert panel of Executive Board was introduced by Aviral Gupta , the Chief Advisor and the event was formally declared open by Director Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati and Mannat Arora , Secretary General , BBMUN 2019.

BLUE BELLS MODEL SCHOOL HOSTED BBMUN 2019 - ‘BLUE BELLS FOR WORLD PEACE’

We at Blue Bells visualize today’s youth as the flag bearers of peace, filled with hope of a better and progressive tomorrow. Exchange of ideas among youth is the foundation upon which peace shall be built. In pursuance of the same vision , the school hosted BBMUN 2019 on the theme,’ Blue Bells For World Peace’ on September 28 & 29, 2019 in the school premises.

The Opening Ceremony on September 28, 2019 was embellished with the illustrious presence of Dr. Sunil Dabas , India’s First ever & only woman who received both Dronacharya Award and Padma Shri from the Hon’ble President of India and Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati , esteemed Director , BBGS. The Principal of the school accorded a warm welcome to all . The expert panel of Executive Board was introduced by Aviral Gupta , the Chief Advisor and the event was formally declared open by Director Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati and Mannat Arora , Secretary General .

Speaking on the occasion , Dr. Dabas called it a historic moment as it witnessed the coming together of students from Delhi & NCR and reaffirmed her faith in the power of the youth to find solutions for pressing global challenges.

Around 500 delegates were divided into nine committees, conventional and unconventional who deliberated on World Peace and also charted a resolution for the same. The Executive Board panel comprised of experienced MUN’rs who played an instrumental role in steering the young generation to fruitful work . Through BBMUN , the students were provided a unique opportunity to engage in productive dialogues and also develop strong bonds of friendship. The conference drew attention not only to sensitive issues of social cohesion but also issues of global significance through different committees.

The Valedictory Function on September 29, 2019 , was adorned by the gracious presence of Major General General G.D. Bakshi , SM, VSM , Prof. K. C. Bansal Bansal Former Director, National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, ICAR, New Delhi , Mr. Vijay Dahiya , Mr. Manvinder Bisla, renowned cricketers and Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, esteemed Director, BBGS. The winners of various were felicitated. The Ceremony was decorated with presentations of the students giving a panoramic view of BBMUN 2019. The scintillating dance performance of the students gave a befitting close to the event and left the audience spellbound. The Outstation Delegation Trophy was bagged by DAV School, Sector 14 , Gurugram , Best Delegate Team Trophy was clinched by Delhi Public School, Sector 45 , Gurugram and Highest Active Delegation Trophy was won by DPSG, Gurugram.

Major General G.D. Bakshi congratulated team Blue Bells for envisioning a commitment towards world peace. Sir was highly impressed by the research done by the delegates. He lauded the initiative as it unfolded the potential of the youth towards self-exploration and self-evaluation.

The event proved to be an enriching experience for all the delegates as they exchanged innovative ideas and responded positively to their heart’s calling there by ushering in a ‘golden age’ of hope and optimism. The event was the sincere endeavor of the school to focus on concrete solutions and devise strategies for a safe and secure world.

CLASS ASSEMBLY : CREATIVE CHANNELIZATION OF INNATE POTENTIAL

Class Assembly provide this platform to Gen Now to identify their potential and bring into light the issues that require immediate attention of the World. In pursuance of the same vision , Class IX A presented their Assembly on International Peace , IX B on AD ASTRA PER ASPERA (THROUGH HARDSHIPS TO THE STARS) and IX C on  importance of Gandhi’s thought in today’s scenario to attain World peace on September 19 , September 26 and October 3, 2019 respectively.

CULTIVATING SUSTENANCE LEARNING: BLUE BELLS MODEL SCHOOL ATTENDED THE PRESTIGIOUS ADDRESS BY HIS HOLINESS , THE DALAI LAMA

Blue Bells Model School aims at holistic education of the students catering to an all-round development of the personality by inculcating in them abiding love for traditional values and cultural heritage along with honing their skill set.

In sync with the same vision , the school team attended the address by His Holiness the Dalai Lama  on  ‘Educating The Heart And Mind’ on  September 20, 2019 at The Shriram School,Vasant Vihar, New Delhi. The programme was organized by SPIC MACAY and only selected 50 schools from Delhi & NCR were permitted to send their representatives for the same. Amidst heavy security and 2300 fellow students , Blue Bellians attended an hour long session  that focused on tapping the potential of the young generation as they are the catalyst of change.

Blessing the audience, the epitome of world peace and compassion, His Holiness the Dalai Lama began his interaction by pointing out that the students in the gathering are the true generation of 21st century  and the prospect for either a happy or a troubled future relies on the youth as they are the harbingers to  build an amicable and happy society.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama further held India as one significant example of having a potential sense of oneness as he expressed much respect and appreciation for the country’s unity and harmony despite the diversity. His Holiness was positive that India has great potential to lead rest of the nations by being an example.

The students absorbed  the wisdom of the most loved and revered world peace icon and  came  with collectible values of love and compassion instilled in them by him.

FURTHERING THE MISSION OF EDUCATION-FOREIGN DELEGATION VISITS BLUE BELLS

An effort to further the mission of education, a delegation from Macedonia and Serbia visited Blue Bells Schools Gurugram on September18, 2019.  The delegation aimed at building international camaraderie and promoting Students-Exchange Programmes in the near future.  Exchange of pedagogical practices was a mutual learning experience. During the visit to Blue Bells Model School, sector 4 and Blue Bells Public School, sector 10 Gurugram, the delegates toured the Learning and Development Centre, Health and Wellness Resource Centre, the Atal Tinkering Lab and other subject specific labs of the schools.  The Trans disciplinary approach and activity based learning transaction highly impressed the delegates. Exchange of knowledge and learning progression showcased through activities won their hearts. The bond between students and facilitators during a story session showcased the happy learning environment at the schools.

The traditional welcome accorded to the visiting team along with student interaction left an indelible imprint on their minds and they highly lauded the effort of the institution in grooming the students in rich values and traditions along with a progressive mindset.

PROMOTING  A SAFE & SECURED SCHOOL AMBIENCE : Awareness session  ON, The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO ) Act & Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act and Responsibilities & Code of Conduct for Teaching & Non- teaching staff

AT BLUE BELLS MODEL  SCHOOL, SECTOR 4, GURUGRAM

When ensuring safety within schools a holistic approach is imperative to create an environment which looks at the multiple dimensions of vulnerability faced by the child, be it mental, emotional, cognitive, social, cultural, geographical or physical, keeping in mind the child's entire cycle of engagement with the educational environment and the system.

We , at Blue Bells believe that a  safe school environment makes children's rights a reality, restores hope, eliminates bias, upholds dignity in the child's life and creates an enabling environment that supports a child's positive personality development. In sync with the same objective a Workshop was  organized for the teachers by Health & Wellness Resource Centre under the   inspiring  guidance of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy  Director  (Health & Wellness), BBGS, on September 18, 2019  . The teachers were sensitized and made aware of the The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO ) Act & Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act and Responsibilities & Code of Conduct for Teaching & Non- teaching staff.

It was reiterated in the session that  children are innocent and trusting by nature  and  they need to be protected against any  abuse . Therefore, the teachers play a pivotal role to protect them in the school if they do not become a prey to such acts. The presentation was shared with the teachers by the Principal , Senior Coordinator and Middle Wing In-charge.

The  POCSO and JJ Act were elaborately explained  as they are  adopted by India to safeguard children from offences.  The POCSO Acts provides the guidelines  to protect children from offences of sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornography and provide for establishment of Special Courts for trial of such offences and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Principal Ma’am  gave a brief to everyone on  Responsibilities and Code of Conduct statements to provide a clear picture to the teachers for ensuring students’ safety in the school. This code is applicable to all employees and any person who comes in contact with the school system. Ma’am gave a detailed description on the vision and mission of the school as far as students’ safety  is concerned, and also updated everyone on  the roles and responsibilities of ‘Child Abuse Monitoring Committee’ and ‘Core Committee Members’ to make children feel safe and secured in the school premises.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Alka Saxena , Deputy Director ( Health & Wellness), BBGS said that the whole objective of session was   to sensitize teachers so that  children can be protected from abuse and their safety can be ensured by providing  a safe learning environment.
