The Investiture Ceremony for Primary Wing of Blue Bells Model School for the academic session 2018-2019 was held with great sanctity and dignity in the J.D. Hall. We, at Blue Bells, believe that the student centric approach will groom responsible citizens. 

The elected council members were conferred with badges by Honourable Principal Ma'am. The Student Council took the pledge to hold the school motto of ‘Be Honest, Be Brave’ in high esteem. During the ceremony, Livesh Bhutani (V C) and Aadhya Singh (V A) were appointed as Head Boy and Head Girl respectively. Other members of Council were Mohika Srivastava (V C) as Cultural Secretary, Arsh Jain (V B) as Literary Club Secretary, Rananjay Singh Chauhan (V B) as Sports Captain, Dhruv Chawla (V D) as Computer Wizard. Riya Bhat (V C), Priyanshi Chakravarty (V A), Pranjal Mahar (V A) and Yuganshu Asthana (V C) were appointed as House Captains for Indira Gandhi House, Mother Teresa House, Nehru House and Tagore House respectively. Along with them Vice-Captains and Prefects were also inducted for each House.

The students were felicitated and congratulated by the Principal.

PRIMARY WING ASTRONOMY SESSION

Astronomy session was held for the students of the Primary Wing at Blue Bells Model School. Ms. Astha Talwar and Mr. Yogesh from the SPACE ASTRO CLUB were the facilitators for the session. They took an informative session with the 86 students of the Primary Wing. The session included a presentation on the topic -Martian Lab. The workshop introduced students to the possibility of life on Mars using a machine- The Mars Curiosity Rover. This helped them understand the usefulness of The Mars Curiosity Rover. It also included one indoor activity wherein they had hands on with a model of a Rover. They were provided a kit after the session. The students enjoyed the fun based learning session.

Blue Bells Model School, Gurugram organizes a Yoga Session for the parents of the school

 ‘Yoga is the science of well-being, youthfulness and integration of body, mind and soul.’ 

Yoga is the practice of accessing and blending all aspects of human’s true nature in the pursuit of inner harmony. Yoga testifies the truth that groundwork of all happiness is health. To get an insight into the world of Yoga and bring an awareness in the realm of meditative exercises, a special yoga session was conducted for parents. Along with the parents, teachers and student volunteers of Primary and Middle Wing committedly participated in the session. A special initiative was taken by the class IX student volunteers who enthusiastically participated in the session as this has been taken up as their SEWA (Social Empowerment through Work Education and Action) project : ‘Yoga –A Way to Life’. Mrs. Chandan Dhawan, the Principal of the school extended a warm welcome to the parents underlining the fact that yoga is the journey of the self, to the self, through the self and if one practices yoga one would surely attain equanimity and poise in life. The students conducted the yoga session by demonstrating different asanas like Bajrashana, Makrashana, Bhujangashana etc. confidently and with great agility under the guidance of yoga trainer Ms. Deepa. The meaning of each body posture and its significance was explained explicitly to the parents. The enthusiasm and keenness of the parents was evident as they abided by the instructions earnestly.  The Principal expressed her gratitude towards the parents for attending the yoga session and appreciated the students for their sincere and zealous efforts.

‘Stop littering the earth’s terrain with plastics’

The planet earth is wrapped with blisters and wounds because of unmindful use of plastics all around. With the mission of spreading vigilance towards detrimental effects of plastics and creating awareness for the protection of the environment, the young Blue Bellians have taken up the task in unison with ‘Say No to Plastics’ campaign connecting with the UN theme of Environment Day 2018. The aim is to raise alertness about the harmful and damaging impacts of plastic bags on the environment and human health and accordingly find sensible ways to reduce and avoid the use of the same. To mark the event the school campus was abuzz with activities for Senior and Middle Wing classes like e-pamphlet Designing, Poster Making, Letter Writing and Awareness Campaign through skits and jingles. The sapling plantation activity also made the students conscious that a green world is the need of the hour. A special assembly was organized where students took a pledge to take care of Mother Earth and adopt ways to combat plastic pollution. A Signature Campaign was conducted wherein panels were displayed in the school premises and the students signed on them to connect with the noble cause for reducing the use of plastic bags. Volunteer teams entrusted with the responsibility of sensitizing the students visited classrooms and addressed the students highlighting the effects of plastic pollution through jingles and a hands-on activity. The students by wearing plastic bags for a short while tried to empathize how the earth feels as it is choking under the massive weight of plastics. The Green Brigadiers conducted a scrupulous checking to ensure that the school premise remains a ZERO PLASTIC ZONE. Mrs. Chandan Dhawan, the Principal of the school appreciated the students’ sincerity and devotion to safeguard the planet.

Blue Bells Model School, Gurugram salutes the undeterred Spirit of FIFA World Cup 2018 Players

Games and sports is an integral part of the curriculum in Blue Bells Model School, Sec-4, Gurugram. The school upholds a feeling of sportsmanship and team spirit amongst the students. As the FIFA fever is on all-time high with finals on 15th July 2018, a special morning assembly was conducted by the students of class XI-A on 12th July 2018. An informative talk on FIFA World Cup was delivered by Moksh Kalra and Gautam Arora along with a video presentation which highlighted the history of the World Cup. To check the students’ updated knowledge on the event, a quiz was conducted for the students of classes IX and X. The performance of the participants was awe-inspiring and overwhelming. A Panel Discussion staged with the core semi-finalist teams was spellbinding as the student players from England, Belgium, France and Croatia discussed their team performance confidently and assertively. Responses to the questions like ‘What do you think is the reason behind the European domination over the continental teams? Do you think, the emergence of ‘Star Players’ in each team has affected their wins? were spontaneous and accurate. Mrs. Chandan Dhawan, the Principal of the school appreciated the students for their remarkable performance.

Additional Director General NCC felicitates  the NCC cadets of Blue Bells Model School, Gurugram

Blue Bells Model School believes that leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.The NCC motto ‘Unity and Discipline’ has been laid out in the school with the aim to inculcate the values like discipline, brotherhood, character building, confidence and spirit of selfless service amongst the school cadets. To honour the school NCC Battalion and further acquaint the young cadets about the future ventures of NCC,Major General R.S. Mann,ADG (Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh) paid a visit to the school. Ms. Chandan Dhawan , Principal of the school extended a warm welcome to Major General, Brig. B.S Dalal, Group Commander and Col. Rakesh Yadav, Commanding officer 5Haryana Bn. NCC, Gurugram. The NCC cadets of the school presented a PPT on the numerous activities conducted in the school under the NCC programme for developing the spirit of adventure and resilience amongst the students. Deepanshi Rao, the ex-cadet recited self-composed poems,’Asifa Hum Sharminda Hai’ and ‘Sainik Ki Chithti’. Maj Gen. addressed the NCR cadets of various schools and colleges across Gurugram by stating the benefits of NCC in schools and colleges. He further stressed that more students should get enrolled in NCC and make necessary improvements to make NCC a transparent and strong programme. He also apprised the cadets about various policies of NCC and SSB interviews. The visit of the NCC officials to the school was an enriching experience  for all the NCC aspirants.

An online session was conducted on 25^th May 2018 for the students of XI and XII of Commerce stream from 10a.m. to 11 a.m. by Mr. Manish Gupta-Practicing C.A. with a rich work experience of over 16 years with renowned names viz. Agilent Technologies, Genpact, IBM etc.

 In this session he threw light on C.A. as a career option, ‘should’s & ought’s’ after class XII, the mandatory stages for becoming C.A. which requires Foundation course, Inter and Final stages. He also apprised the students with the scope and career prospects after C.A. as private practitioner or a hired employee in any organization. At last, query handling session was taken by Ms. Sushma Tyagi (HOD Commerce and Humanities) and Mr. Suhail.

Hands-On Workshop

‘Great Mind, Great Deeds’

Blue Bells Model School, Gurugram organized a ‘Hands-On Workshop’ for the students of classes VIII-X on May 24, 2018.The workshop was conducted by a team of 15 students of  ALO from IIT, Delhi, NLU, NIFT and DU. Ritvik Sharma, now a student of IIT, Delhi, is an alumni of BBMS who initiated the informative session. The orientation session consisted of an introduction of four fields electrical engineering, psychology, law and fashion designing. The students were delighted to witness a demonstration of clap circuit, mind games and dissembling of a mobile phone along with video clippings. The session aimed to motivate students to participate in the various fields manifested by ALO members and get to know about their field of interest and learn different skills through hands-on experience. The students were motivated to join an 8-day Summer Camp, in IIT Delhi to achieve an exposure in the realm of engineering, psychology, law and fashion designing. The session was indeed an eye opener for all the young aspirants of BBMS.
