World Peace Day is celebrated every year on September 21st. This day of Peace celebrates the power of global harmony for building a peaceful and sustainable world. Primary Wing students of Blue Bells Model School, celebrated the event with great zest and enthusiasm. A plethora of activities was organized to mark the occasion. Poster Making, Article Writing and Poem Writing activity was held in class III, IV and V respectively. The students made startling posters with catchy slogans. They expressed their views on the topic: ‘Piece or Peace- The Choice is Ours’. Class V students beautifully depicted enthralling poems for the soldiers.

The aim of the day was to strengthen epitomes of peace and endorse unity.

Protect Ozone Layer, Save Life on Earth

World Ozone Day marks the importance and role of the ozone layer in the environment. T-shirt painting activity was held in order to spread awareness about the importance of ozone layer. Primary Wing  students of Blue Bells Model School from class III to V painted T-shirts using fabric colours. The students were applauded for their eye-catching painted T-shirts that highlighted the theme through various slogans like 'Go Green', 'Save Environment', 'Earth Without Ozone Is Like A House Without Roof' etc. The students pledged to use environment friendly things to stop depletion of the Ozone layer. They took a vow to prefer walking or riding bicycle instead of driving to nearby places to reduce carbon emissions

Blue Bells Celebrates Teacher’s Day

‘A teacher is a compass that activates the magnets of curiosity, knowledge, and wisdom in the pupils.’

A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way of others. If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father, the mother and the teacher. To show respect and reverence to teachers, the students of Class XII of Blue Bells Model School Sec-4 Gurugram organized a special assembly on the occasion of  Teacher’s Day. The Head Boy and Head Girl addressed the students highlighting the importance of teachers’ role in students’ life. To make the day memorable for teachers, a series of fun and entertaining events were organized by the students. Teachers enthusiastically participated in musical chair, ramp walk and the quiz – ‘Bollywood Ka Badshah Kuan’  wherein the teachers had to depict movies through emojis, and guess the song . They showcased inspirational video on teachers followed by the presentation of group song and dance. The teacher students of class XII involved their juniors in various games and discussions. Students sought  teachers’ blessings on this auspicious day. Teachers were touched by the warm gesture made by all the students of the school as they made each teacher feel special on this day.

TEACHER'S DAY CELEBRATION -Primary Wing

‘A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instill a love for learning.’

In India, 5^th September is celebrated as Teachers’ Day as a mark of tribute to the contribution made by teachers to the society. 5^th September is the birthday of a great teacher Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, who was a staunch believer of education, and was a well known diplomat, scholar, ‘President of India’ and above all a ‘Teacher’.

The celebration was held at Blue Bells Model School organized by the students of Class III B. An array of activities was planned for the teachers which made the day exceptional. The celebration started with an introductory speech. Students displayed their love and respect affectionately through a speech on the role of teachers in their life followed by melodious song performance. The performance of the students on stage exclusively for teachers was a memorable one. Students from class III exhibited their talents as a treat to the teachers. Dance, music and song made the day explicable. The students took great effort and ensured that teachers enjoy every minute. All the students from Class III expressed their thankfulness to their teachers.

As the school is observing Swatchta Drive from 1 September, 2018 to September 15, 2018, a pledge was taken by the Primary Wing to follow the mission and imbibe the practice of cleanliness into us.

Janmashtami Celebration

“May the Love and Blessings of Lord Krishna fill our life with happiness and virtues on Janmashtami and always.”

Janmashtami marks the birth of Lord Krishna, an avatar of Lord Vishnu. We celebrate Janmashtami by fasting, singing, praying together, preparing and sharing special food and visiting Krishna or Vishnu temples.

Preparations for Janmashtami festival started with great zeal and pomp by the students of Primary Wing at Blue Bells Model School. Students came dressed in as Krishna and Radha and other colourful outfits. They celebrated the occasion by singing and dancing with great joy. Bhajans were sung by Livesh and Mohika. The Primary Wing was filled with festive fervour as the students cheerfully involved themselves in the activities planned for the day. Class III students created handmade Peacock feather head-gears. Class IV and V students decorated flutes and matkees respectively.

National Sports Day

Talent Wins Games but Teamwork Wins Championships

Observed annually, on 29^th August in India, National Sports Day is a day which celebrates and honours the birthday of Major Dhyan Chand – one of the most respected legendary figures in the world of Sports. To highlight the importance of this day, the Primary Wing students of Blue Bells Model School celebrated it with pride and enthusiasm. Age appropriate fun games were organized for the students to mark the occasion. The ground was abuzz with exhilaration and ecstasy during the event.

Role Play Activity was also organized as a platform to exhibit the talent and efforts of these budding sports persons. The students were dressed up as their favourite sports personalities for the same. The event involved mass student participation.

The outcome of the day was the development of skills like coordination, concentration, logical thinking and teamwork.

Principal Madam lauded the energy, zest and vivacity of the students and urged them to participate in sports with honesty and sincerity and keep up their sportsman spirit.

‘Prakriti Mohatsav- ‘Tarave Namah – Mission Green Schools’

‘Trees exhale for us so that we can inhale to stay alive.’

True glory lies in noble deeds. In sync with the pious thought, a plantation activity was undertaken in the Blue Bells Model School premises to celebrate Prakriti Mahotsav- Tarave Namah in accordance with the guidelines laid down by CBSE for Mission Green Schools. The plantation drive was carried out by the Eco Club students of the School. Eleven trees of native species viz. Neem Azadirachta Indica, Gulmohar Delonix Regia, Amla Phyllanthus Emblica etc. each bearing the name of the plant species as well as that of a martyr were planted by the zealous and enthusiastic students. This activity was conducted to reinforce positive attitude amongst the students towards the environment and preservation of endemic species. The students’ earnest interest in planting the saplings was highly appreciated.

Raksha Bandhan 'n' Vriksha Bandhan Celebration

“Rakhi is a thread that binds two souls in a pious bond of love and affection forever.”

Raksha Bandhan is the sacred bond of trust between brother and sister. Sisters tie Rakhis on the wrists of their brothers as a token of this bond.

The young Blue Bellians from Primary Wing extended the celebration of this festival by ‘Building New Ties of Trust’ beyond the family. The students from classes III-V visited 5 Haryana Battalion NCC, Gurugram to tie beautiful handmade Rakhis to the soldiers and greet them with inspiring handmade cards to acknowledge their role and saluting their contribution for the country. This initiative stands as a heartfelt gratitude to the service of the soldiers. Col. Rakesh Yadav, commanding officer (NCC Battalion, Gurugram) gave sketch pens and chocolates to the students as a token of love.

 Students celebrated ‘Vriksha-Bandhan’ with great fervor and enthusiasm. They tied rakhis to their Green Siblings. Dr Alka Saxena, Deputy Director Health and Wellness,encouraged and sensitized the students to take care of plants to make this world a greener place.

 The students took a vow to follow the three P's - Protect, Preserve and Promote 'Mother Earth'.

Metamorphosis 2018-19

Blue Bells Model School Sec-4, Gurugram hosts an ‘Inter School Mega Life Skills Event, 2018-19 ‘Metamorphosis’

Every stage of life has its valuable lessons to be learnt which lays the foundation for the next stage; we must graciously be fully present in each stage and treasure it. The struggle today, develops the strength for tomorrow.

Dr. Alka Saxena, who is a constant beacon and source of strength has been actively working with the credo to provide an all-round development and a sound value base of the younger generation. She is an avid advocate of socio-emotional wellbeing of children. In sync with this objective, Blue Bells Model School, Gurugram celebrated Metamorphosis, Health and Wellness Fiesta, an Inter School Mega Life Skills Event, 2018-19 on 24^th and 25^th August. It was organised by Health and Wellness Team under the leadership of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director, Blue Bells Group of Schools. The students of renowned GPSC schools participated in the event with great spirit and fervour. The purpose was to provide a platform to the students to hone and prune their talents, skills and abilities, thus empowering & equipping them with righteous knowledge and life skills.  

Ms. Chandan Dhawan, the Principal extended a hearty welcome to the dignitaries, student representatives and teachers of various schools across Gurgaon. Manya Jhamb, Health and Wellness Ambassador and Anshika Raghav, the Peer Mentor highlighted the areas and achievements of Health and Wellness team through a Power Point Presentation. 

The program commenced on a spiritual note with Shloka Recitation and thereafter Dr. Saxena declared the competition open. 

Day 1 witnessed an Interschool Debate competition, Critical Thinking and Fun Races for classes VI to VIII. The topic for the Debate was ‘Virtual World is Consuming the real World’ wherein the participants had put their arguments both in favour and against the motion very convincingly. The debate turned out to be sparkling with a plethora of views and counter views.?The competitions were based on various themes related to life skills like Critical Thinking Activities- Find the objects, Logical reasoning, Anagram, Word Search and Fun Games which tested the students on speed and accuracy like Shape Making, Blow the Ball, Mental Math, Pick the peas, Balloon Game, Hurdle Race and Medley Race. On Day 2 students of classes IX to XII competed for the coveted positions in Critical Thinking activity and Quiz.  

A workshop on Rethink Discipline: Positive Discipline Approach was organized by Dr.  Alka Saxena along with resource centre team, for the GPSC school teachers. She apprised the teachers about the fact that it is important to find a respectable middle ground that is neither coercive nor permissive, by adopting an effective positive discipline approach that integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging behaviour in classroom. Through role plays and activities the team demonstrated classroom challenges faced by the teachers.  Teachers gained an insight into real classroom settings and learnt effective ways to respond with kindness and firmness with the students. 

The kaleidoscopic glimpses of the two days activities were reflected through a Power Point Presentation.?The session was followed by the prize distribution ceremony. The winners were felicitated with the trophies and certificates by Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, Director of Blue Bells Group of Schools. Through this Inter School Competition students had enriched on confidence, experiences and learning. The fiesta not only served its sole purpose but also gave a platform to the students to display vivid ideas by interacting with others. The two day mega event concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Anjali Nagpal, the Senior Wing Coordinator.

Raksha Bandhan Assembly 2018-19

“Rakhi is a thread that binds two souls in a pious bond of love and affection forever”

Raksha Bandhan is a special occasion to celebrate the bond between brothers and sisters symbolized by the tying of a holy thread, ‘Rakhi’ on the wrist of brothers.

The auspicious day of Raksha Bandhan was celebrated at Blue Bells Model School. The celebration included an inspiring assembly by the students of Class III-A. Students sang and danced to the tunes of songs related to Raksha Bandhan showcasing their endearment for each other. A speech was presented which was related to the origin of the festival. The students joined in this celebration enthusiastically, which was aimed at instilling the virtues of sacred brother-sister bond among the students.

To strengthen this bonding ‘Rakhi Making Activity’ was done in Classes III-V. Students made colourful, handmade Rakhis. These Rakhis would be tied on wrists of soldiers. All the children participated with great zeal and zest in the Rakhi Making Activity.

On this occasion, Principal Madam wished and blessed all the students.
