My Energy Balance

Health is the soul that animates all the enjoyments of life.

Healthy food, water, sleep and exercise are a necessary part of any healthy lifestyle to maintain healthy levels of energy in the body and to promote a fit and active lifestyle. To create awareness on keeping body energy balanced, the Health and Wellness Department of Blue Bells Model School, Gurgaon organized a workshop on ‘My Energy Balance’ on December 29, 2015 for the students of classes VI-IX. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Sunder Kumar and Mr. Ujjwal from Swahrit Society. Mr. Sunder spoke on different amount of energy levels required to do various types of metabolic activities. He cleared many misconceptions about dieting, weight management and informed students about smart eating guidelines. He updated students with new terms like BMR(Basal Metabolic Rate),TEF(Thermic Effect of Food),BMI(Body Mass Index) and FITT(Frequency Intensity Time Type).He further emphasized on how to balance energy level by being more active, by limiting time spent in front of T.V. and computer, by doing physical exercises and by minimizing intake of fatty food. The session was interactive and it became more lively when the students were asked to solve crossword puzzles. The students actively participated in Energy Level Relay to understand the concept of balancing energy. The session was informative and an enriching learning experience for all the students.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

Christmas is not a time, nor a season but a state of mind; to cherish peace and goodwill to be plenteous in mercy; this is to have real spirit of Christmas.
The students of Blue Bells Model School celebrated the birth of Christ on the Christmas Eve with great pomp and show. The assembly of senior students started with a brief talk on the significance of Christmas delivered by Mayank Verma of Class X. A self-composed poem was recited by the budding poetess Vaishnavi Bhatnagar of Class X and the students of Class XI presented the skit Helen of Troy that gave life to the still pages of History and took the audience to the ancient Greek.
The Primary students depicted the birth of Jesus Christ through a skit, sang carols and tapped their feet with the beats of Jingle Bells. The students were dressed up as Santa Claus and during recess they savored Christmas cakes with their classmates. The students were overwhelmed with the joys of Christmas. The classrooms were decorated with frills and fancies that brought out the feeling of festivity in the ambience. The Principal Madam C. Dhawan bestowed her blessings and wishes to all the students.

Mock Banking

The essence of education is to help one discover one’s uniqueness and instill team spirit
Co-curricular activities in school are essential in providing quality education to better prepare students for their transition into the working environment. In school education, these activities are concerned with the integrated development of the personality of an individual- his physical, cultural, aesthetic, social, mental and emotional aspects. With this objective and in order to spread awareness and enlighten the students about the banking procedure, Blue bells Model School, Gurgaon organized a ‘Mock Banking Activity’ for the students of class XI under the able guidance of Ms. Sushma Tyagi and her team. All the students of Commerce and Humanities were grouped into different banks and were allotted different designations like Bank Manager, Custom Care Executive, ATM Manager etc. The simulation activity was beautifully executed with the involvement of the students of classes IX and X. The students visited different banks and they were informed about the various bank procedure and new terminologies. The research work  of the students of class XI on various schemes and procedures of  bank was highly appreciable. Teachers along with the administrative staff and officials of Accounts Department of the school visited the banks and applauded students’ efforts. Dr Alka Saxena, Asst. Director,Health & Wellness, Blue Bells Group of Schools and Ms. Chandan Dhawan , Principal of the school praised the zealous students and remarked that these activities enrich and broaden students’ experiences and prepare them for their future life.

Ganit Week

Mathematics expresses values that reflect the cosmos.
Mathematics, as an expression of the human mind, reflects the active will, contemplative reason and the desire for aesthetic perfection. To enjoy and know more about Maths, Blue Bells Model School, Gurgaon organized Ganit Week for the students of classes III to XI from 17th to 22nd December,2015.An array of activities were organized for the students to develop interest in Maths and to enhance their analytical and logical skills. A special assembly marked the commencement of the week wherein the birth anniversary of  Sri Srinivasa Ramanujam, the renowned Indian Mathematician was commemorated. The students of Middle Wing prepared a PPT on the History of Mathematics and conducted a Quiz. The week witnessed students keen involvement in figuring out mathematical puzzles , participating in mathematical relay race Math-e-letics, appearing for MCQ test and solving Sudoku. The students of Primary Wing made models using Tangrams, played Bingo and took part in Relay Race. They also  participated in Treasure Hunt, Polygons activity through a story telling session and Hopscotch based on Number System and exhibited great skill in making  Sand Clock. Academic Development & Innovation-Blue Bells Group of schools lauded students participation and motivated them by stating that One should love Maths to comprehend the magic hidden in it. Mrs. Chandan Dhawan, Principal, Blue Bells School appreciated students as well as teachers for their commendable efforts. The week-long activities proved the fact that Maths may not teach how to add love or subtract hate but it definitely gives a hope that every problem has a solution.

Math-e-magician

Maths – it’s the poetry of logical ideas.
Mathematics is the most beautiful and most powerful creation of the human spirit. If one wills to gain fun out of it, one needs to muster the finer nuances of Maths, the music of reason. To enjoy and know more about Maths, Blue Bells Model School, Gurgaon organized Math- e –magician for the students of classes VI to X on October 31,2014 and it was  conducted by NIIT. The event was inaugurated by Principal Ms. Chandan Dhawan by lighting the ceremonial lamp followed by a dance performance and a talk by Sangeeta of class XII on ‘Importance of Mathematics’. A series of activities were carried out to encourage students about Math’s Lab and create an interest in Maths by proving all concepts and theorems practically. Students participated in a quiz and hand’s on activities proving practically different mathematical formulaes. An array of interesting games on fractions, puzzles, Tangram activity, 3D shapes were designed to involve students. Display boards were made on themes like Symmetry, Time and  Tangram. A Math’s Corner was also created acquainting students with famous mathematicians and mathematical formulae. NIIT honoured and appreciated all the Math’s faculty members by presenting WOW cards. The student winners were felicitated with certificates and medals. Sr Wing In-charge Ms. M.Aruna proposed vote of thanks and congratulated students and teachers for the success of the event.

Success lies in the heart and is activated by the hope that lies in the dream. A dream becomes reality through determination, will power, self-discipline and sheer hard work. Sri B.D. Gulati, Founder Chairman of Blue Bells Group of Schools is a dreamer, a visionary who with whole-hearted dedication and efforts laid the foundation of the school long back and has shaped the lives of many young individuals. Blue Bells Model School commemorated its 36th Founder’s Day on November 10, 2015. A special assembly session on ‘Save Girl Child and Women Empowerment’ was hosted by Balika Manch, ‘Abhivyakti’ to celebrate the august occasion through a spectrum of activities. Dr.Manoj Kaushik, DEO of Gurgaon graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honour was Ms. Soumya Gulati, Asst. Director- Academic Development & Innovation, Blue Bells Group of Schools. Ms. Chandan Dhawan, Principal of the school greeted the Chief Guest. Kashish Basin delivered the welcome speech and gave an account of the activities carried out in Balika Manch. The day commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest followed by a shloka recital and a group song ‘Meri Awaaz Suno’. A speech was delivered by Prerna Singh of class IX on ‘Save Girl Child. A heart-rending beautiful Hindi self-composed poem ‘Beti Hi Janana’ was recited by Chahat Vats of class VII and an English self-composed poem by Vaishnavi Bhatnagar of class X. A street play was staged on ‘Gender Inequality’’ by the students of class IX highlighting the fact that girls should get equal opportunity as boys in every sphere. Abdul Samad enthralled the audience by singing a melodious song ‘Jeene Do’. A movie on school history was presented by Anshita Raghav and Kavya Nijhawan of class VIII taking everybody down the memory lane. A scintillating group dance bringing forth the pain of a girl child amazed the audience. The students of Primary Wing created School Logo and designed Doodles to commemorate the occasion.  A hawan was arranged to mark the event and to seek the blessings of Almighty. To celebrate the ‘Festivals of Lights-Diwali’ a PPT was presented by Ananya Srivastav and Srishti Kakkar of X stressing points to protect Mother Earth from pollution. A house-wise Rangoli making activity was also organized for the students of Primary Wing. Dr. Kausik addressed the gathering by conveying her message that students should diligently work hard, secure their future and change their mind-set to bring revolutionary changes in the society. A rally was organized in and around sector 4 on ‘Say No to Crackers’ and ‘Anti Road Rage’. The campaign with posters, pla-card and slogans highlighted the importance to save environment and to develop the values of patience and tolerance amongst the people. Door- to - door anti crackers campaign and signature campaign created an awareness amongst the people to save their environment. Ms. Soumya Gulati congratulated the students for their earnest efforts in making the event a success. Dr.Suman Gulati, Director Blue Bells Group of Schools showered her blessings to her students and faculty members and wished the school to grow to excellence in the realm of education. The celebration had indeed added one more chapter in the glorious history of Blue Bells Model School.

Cybermania 2015-Enter the future zone

Technology is a soaring exercise of the human imagination.’

Technology advances and enlarges, and in the process assumes greater role in the premise of progress in every society, family and educational institution. Technology therefore, will continue to be an integral part and the driving force in workplaces, communities and personal lives in the 21st century. Technology can engage students in new experiences and create a community of learners across geographical boundaries. To achieve this objective, Blue Bells Model School, Gurgaon, under the able guidance and patronage of Ms. Anshuka Aneja, Asst. Director IT,  Blue Bells Group of Schools organized CYBERMANIA 2015, a mega Inter-school IT fest, on October 10, 2015 to bring forth the dynamism and productive face of technology in the hands of tech-savvy generation. Sri Mahesh Chandra, Chairman Blue Bells Group of Schools inaugurated the august occasion by lighting the ceremonial lamp which was followed by shloka recital. A welcome speech was delivered by Radhika Gupta, Head Girl of the school. Sri Mahesh Chandra addressed the audience by emphasizing the fact that it was a proud moment to see the reputed schools of Gurgaon participating in the mega event. He also stressed on the point that- ‘Technology is the mother of civilizations, of arts and of sciences and its proper and wise usage is expected from the youth of today.’ A gamut of fifteen competitions related to Information Technology was designed for the students to exhibit their creativity and IT skills in the enigmatic world of technology. The array of competitions were ‘Creatica’ where students had to create  e-poster, ‘Blended Delight ’to  make a collage, ‘ Vantage Point’ to express views on Face book or Face –to- Face, ‘Cyber Sell’ to make an advertisement in Flash, ‘Reel Magic’ to create a movie, ‘App-O- Mania’ to design a Utility App, ‘Robo Race’ to  solve problem statement by linking on the website, ‘My Voice My Choice’ to debate on Section 66A Judgment verses A Pyrrhic Victory, ‘Tech Symphony’ to prepare an audio clip, ‘Play Station’ to design a game, ‘Fritter Glitter’ to create a non-working and working model using e-waste and ‘Rock IT’ to perform a theme based dance. Through the numerous events, the participating teams exhibited great competitive spirit and commendable innovative ideas. The members of jury were eminent personalities from different walks of life. The closing ceremony witnessed a mesmerizing dance and the laudable creations of first prize winners of all the events. A Power Point Presentation was shown to peep into the activity- rich venues. Dr. Suman Gulati, Director Blue Bells Group of Schools addressed the audience by stating that she believes in the high potential of present youth; the only task is to ignite and channelize that fire and energetic mind in the right direction to achieve excellence in the realm of IT and thus leading the country to conquer new frontiers. She applauded the collective efforts of students and teachers in making the event a great success. Blue Bells Model School won the Overall Winners Trophy. However, being the host school, the trophy was awarded to Blue Bells Public School, Sec- 10 and the Runners Trophy was bagged by Lions Public School. Dr. Suman Gulati felicitated the winners by giving away the prizes and certificates. Mementoes were given to the esteemed judges as a token of reverence and gratitude. The eventful day concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Yatin Sharma, Head Boy of the school.

Awareness Drive on Dengue by Peer Educators

The Health & Wellness Programme, Blue Bells Group of Schools, under the guidance of Dr. Alka Saxena, Assistant Director, Blue Bells Group of Schools, has been working to sensitize students to various themes related to health & well-being and social, emotional & cognitive domains. One such endeavor has been the Peer Educator Programme under which a group of twelve students from each school has been chosen as Peer Educators with the assumption that with some representation from students themselves, the Health & Wellness Team will be better equipped to strive towards its many ventures.
Recently, with the rise in the number of cases of dengue in the city and the NCR, it was felt by the team that students should be provided with some basic knowledge about preventive steps against dengue. Essential health advisory on dengue, according to the directives of Dr. Alka Saxena, was thus shared by the Peer Educators. Deep Sen Gupta, Peer Mentor at Blue Bells Model School shared basic tips and preventive measures against dengue as part of a special assembly conducted for students of classes 9th to 12th on the 1st of October, 2015.
In addition, peer educators from classes 6th to 10th ventured into classrooms (Classes 3rd to 8th) and spoke about the spread of dengue and shared simple ways in which one could stay safe and thus reduce the risk of contracting the illness. They also visited the canteen area and made the people aware that they should not store or collect water and keep it .
Students and teachers were also informed of the same through information put up in various notice boards and posters in school as well as a detailed document on health advisory uploaded on the school website.
Peer Educators were able to make their peers aware that good health is a blessing and it is our foremost responsibility to take care of this treasure.
Good health is not something we can buy. However it can be an extremely valuable savings account.

Celebration of International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer2015

Saving Environment is the need of today, the way we are destroying environment will lead to the destruction of life from this earth. Therefore, it’s necessary that we should Save Environment and everyone should contribute for this great cause.
To sensitize the students and create an awareness about the importance of ozone layer, Blue Bells Model School, Gurgaon celebrated ‘International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer2015’ on September 21, 2015 by conducting a special assembly for the students of classes VI to VIII. The theme for the celebration was supported by the slogan ‘Ozone: All there is between you and UV’. Students delivered talk on ‘Importance of Ozone Layer’ highlighting the issues for its depletion and the precautionary measures to be adopted to conserve it. A movie based on the theme was shown to make the students understand the relevance of the stratospheric layer on earth and the hazards that would be created in its absence. A plethora of activities were carried out for the students which included Slogan Writing, Poster Making, Collecting and sharing information on CFC free gadgets. ‘International Peace Day’ was also celebrated by organizing a ‘Message Writing’ activity on Peace. Principal Ms. Chandan Dhawan appreciated students’ wholehearted participation and sincere efforts.

HINDI DIWAS CELEBRATION

RIMARY WING CELEBRATES  HINDI DIWAS AT BLUE BELLS MODEL SCHOOL FROM 7TH SEPTEMBER TO 9TH SEPTEMBER,2015

To honour the Hindi Language, Primary Wing of Blue Bells Model  School celebrated Hindi Week from 7th September to 9th September , 2015.The objective of celebrating this week was to let the students understand that Hindi is not only a language but it is our national language. To know the nuances of the language ,on the first day students wrote dohas and muhawras on various cut-outs. They also participated in Ad-Mad show to exhibit the importance of hygiene, education and equality through their advertisements that they created on the spot. A special assembly was conducted by the students of class IV-B where in the students spoke about importance of Hindi in our day to day life. They presented a skit – Matraon Ka Milan – to show the importance of matras in the usage of Hindi Language. A group song and a group dance proved to be both educative and entertaining. On the final day an interactive story telling session was conducted by the grandparents in the class rooms. They answered the queries of the children about their childhood. Interesting stories were narrated by the grandparents leaving a message and a moral for the students to think upon. The cherry on the cake was when the Principal Ms. C.Dhawan, herself narrated an inspirational story to the students.
