Empowering
Young Minds: Awareness and Sensitisation Session on POCSO and Child Safety
An awareness
and sensitisation session on POCSO and Child Safety was conducted for
the students of classes 6th and 7th to educate students about their rights,
personal safety, and the importance of recognising and reporting inappropriate
behaviour.
The session
was led by Advocate Poonam Kataria (12 years of experience) and Advocate
Anoop Kataria (18 years of experience), DLSA Panel Member, who shared
valuable insights into the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO)
Act, 2012.
Through an
informative and interactive discussion, students were sensitised to the
importance of personal boundaries, safe and unsafe touch, identifying trusted
adults, and speaking up without fear or hesitation. The resource persons
emphasised that every child has the right to feel safe, respected, and
protected.
The session
reinforced the understanding that child safety is a shared responsibility
and that awareness, vigilance, and timely intervention are essential in
creating a safe and supportive environment for every child.
The
programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource
persons for their valuable guidance and contribution towards empowering young
minds.
