Juggling
Hats – Work Life Balance
A workshop on “Juggling Hats – Work Life
Balance” was conducted for teachers of the Senior Wing at Blue Bells
Model School, under the inspiring mentorship of Dr. Alka Saxena, and
facilitated by Ms. Chetna, Senior Associate Psychologist, MyPeegu, on August
12, 2026. The session focused on helping teachers navigate their multiple
professional and personal responsibilities while prioritising wellbeing and
sustainable energy management.
The workshop commenced with the “Human
Orchestra: Setting the Tone” activity, enabling teachers to reflect on the
diverse personalities, needs, and expectations within a classroom. It
highlighted the complexity of creating a harmonious learning environment while
responding to varied dynamics.
Through “The Great Juggle: Many Hats, One
Professional,” participants identified the numerous roles they undertake
beyond teaching—including mentoring, counselling, guiding, and supporting
students. The discussion emphasised the need to balance these responsibilities
without compromising personal wellbeing.
The “Spotlight vs Shadow” activity
encouraged teachers to distinguish between visible, acknowledged contributions
and the less visible responsibilities that consume considerable time and
emotional energy. This reflection helped participants recognise and validate
the often-unseen mental and emotional load of their work.
The session concluded with an introduction to
the “Window of Tolerance,” helping teachers recognise signs of stress
and emotional overwhelm. The concepts of hyperarousal and hypoarousal
enabled participants to understand their responses to stress and reinforced the
importance of self-awareness, emotional regulation, and timely restoration.
Overall, the workshop offered meaningful
reflection and practical perspectives to help teachers manage their many hats
with greater awareness, balance, and resilience.
