MATE Parent
Workshop
The MATE
Parent Workshop was successfully organised at Blue Bells Model School
on 1st August 2026 in collaboration with the Department of
Psychiatry, AIIMS New Delhi and CBSE. The workshop aimed to
strengthen the partnership between parents and the school in nurturing
emotionally resilient, confident, and mentally healthy adolescents. The
programme introduced parents to the vision of MATE (Mind Activation Through
Education) and highlighted the significance of creating a supportive
ecosystem where every child feels safe, heard, and valued.
Prof. (Dr.)
Nand Kumar, along with Dr. Deepika Dahima and Ms. Priyanka Tandon from the
AIIMS MATE team, sensitised parents to contemporary adolescent challenges such
as bullying, digital addiction, substance abuse, relationship issues, childhood
advertising, parental conflicts, and mental health concerns. They emphasised
that a child's greatest assets are self-esteem, while parental
support and school support serve as the strongest protective
resources. Parents were encouraged to adopt non-conflicting parenting,
create emotionally safe homes, collaborate with school counsellors, and
actively participate in wellness initiatives. The workshop also introduced
simple breathing techniques for stress management and highlighted the four
pillars of MATE—Holistic Awareness, Interconnectedness, Communication, and
Resilience. An inspiring message encouraged every child to build a circle
of five trusted friends, fostering empathy, belonging, and a caring
micro-community where no child feels alone. The interactive session concluded
with a collective commitment by parents and educators to work together in
building emotionally strong and resilient young minds.
