Celebrating the Joy of Reading: Reading Week at Blue Bells Model School

Blue Bells Model School celebrated “Reading Week” with great enthusiasm on the occasion of World Book Day, observed from 20 April to 24 April 2026. The week commenced with the DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) Programme for students of Grades III to VIII, creating a calm and immersive reading environment where both students and teachers paused their routine to indulge in books of their choice or recommended titles. This initiative set a reflective tone for the entire week, reinforcing the joy of reading.

Young learners of Grades III and IV showcased their creativity by designing colourful and innovative bookmarks, which were thoughtfully presented to teachers on 23 April as a token of appreciation and a symbol of shared reading culture. Adding further depth to the celebrations, an engaging storytelling session was organized for students of Grades IV and V in collaboration with HarperCollins. The session, conducted by Dr. Neha Khosa, captivated students through expressive narration and interactive participation.

The school libraries became vibrant hubs of literary exploration, hosting a variety of class-wise activities such as “Share a Story,” “Story in Pictorial Form,” “Know Your India,” “Advertise Your Favourite Book,” “Different Genres,” and “Author’s Talk.” These thoughtfully curated activities encouraged students to explore diverse literary forms, express their ideas creatively, and develop a deeper appreciation for reading, making the week both enriching and memorable.
